4.0 out of 5 stars Useful and easy to read 18 Oct 2013

This is a great book written in easy to understand everyday language. The author's sense of humor throughout makes a tough subject more enjoyable. However, it can be somewhat confusing from time to time. For instance, in column chromatography, there is no mention of what the column bed is... not a big deal if your instructor follows this up with a good lab procedure. However, if your instructor uses this book AS the major portion of the lab procedure it can cause some issues in your chemical separation. Other than small issues like this that your instructor should, in theory, be able to clear up, it's an amazingly useful book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but needs more in NMR section 24 Mar 2014

This book has already been a great help in my organic chem lab. It's perfect for learning techniques and understanding the concepts behind them.
The reason I didn't give it give stars is because I wish it had more information on NMR spectroscopy results and how to interpret them.

Really helped me with Ochem this semester. I would highly recomend it to anyone studying Organic at a college level.
4.0 out of 5 stars Humorous and helpful 11 Jun 2014

I only purchased this manual because it was required for my Synthesis Lab. I only read this manual because it was required to complete some pre-labs. However, reading it was not a bore. The author throws in humor and writes in a conversational way so that it's more entertaining to read than my ochem book.

Overall, if you're looking for an ochem lab manual, this will be a good choice. If you're purchasing this because you're required to, heads up -- it's not that bad.
