'The opera gala' is an enchanting live concert of popular arias, duets and quartets performed in the Festspielhaus, Baden-Baden in 2007. Anna Netrebko is of course a fantastic soprano and she also performed some dazzling dancing.
Mexican tenor Ramón Vargas was in good voice and confident. Latvian mezzo soprano Elina Garan'a sang richly and beautifully. She excelled in 'Mon Coeur s'ouvre à ta voix' from 'Samson and Dalila' by Saint-Saëns. Suave French Baritone Ludovic Tézier made up the star quartet.
Marco Amiliato is an excellent conductor, and was sympathetically in total control of the orchestra.
This DVD provides over 2 hours of delightful musical and visual enjoyment. Highly recommended.

Do not hesitate to buy this DVD. It is worth every dollar. The four singers really stand out, Netrebko with her angel-like voice, Vargas with a wonderful tenor voice, Garanca as a colorful mezzo and Tezier as a brilliant baritone. Each and every aria are outstandingly sung and when the four of them join to sing both an aria from Rigoletto and from Traviata their voices blend wonderfully. It is one of those treasures that are worth being discovered. Javier from Bariloche

THIS IS THE MOST WONDERFUL DVD, WATCH ONE EVENING,IT IS AS GOOD AS BEING THERE, IT FLOWS CONTINUALLY AND ALL PERFORMERS BLEND TOGETHER WITH AN ENJOYMENT WHICH SHOWS COMPATABILITY WITH EACH OTHER,I CAN NOT PRAISE THIS DVD TOO HIGHLY

Sheer delight from start to finish...'Bravo'
Elena Garanca + Anna Netrebko + Ramon Vargas + Ludovic Tezier = an evening of absolute heavenly singing. Total delight and well worth the price.
