I've been an careers guidance practitioner for years and have found this book to be extremly useful. It's structured in such a way that helps those starting out in being advisors right through to those with more experience. I love all the tools that are available and the fact that these are all in one book can really help when working with individuals with particular barriers to moving forward. Even the most experienced practitioner has to reflect on their practice and this is an excellent opportunity to review tools and learn new ones. I would definitely recommend this to anybody working with individuals on a 1-1 basis.

I love this little book. I've been a careers adviser for 24 years but this book gives me new guidance ideas every time I open it.

It covers the basic guidance techniques in the first sections, which is either a good introduction for a new practitioner or revision for someone like me who has been around too long. Then the toolkit gives a fantastic summary of lots of techniques to try with clients. You could spend a day's training or more and a lot of money developing knowledge and skills in such techniques, so your money spent on buying this book will be good value whether you go through it all or if you dip into it when you are in need of inspiration or just want to try out different ways of helping your clients.

Highly recommended.
