When catastrophe forces Shipflight onward, unable to return to Earth, they set out to discover what happened to those who passed through the cosmos before them.

What awaits them beyond the world that Mankind has always called home is a growing madness aboard the Ship and a lost enemy, stalking them as they travel through darkness and stars...

5.0 out of 5 stars Through Darkness and Stars 8 Mar. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book. There were three separate main plots and a couple of secondary sub-plots. There is a new (to me) concept of a benign alien ship finally revealing itself to humanity and that is just the start. Lost civilisations, a virus with a mind taking over humans, faster than light travel and journeys in suspension takeing 10's of thousand years and amachine intelligence intent on destroying all life.
A real space saga/opera.

Continuation of the Unearthing.
Moved into space and more my thing than the the first book (Which set the scene)
Goes along quite well and introduces all sorts of Sci Fi concepts.
Almost finished this book and will move straight onto the next in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sequal 7 Mar. 2012
By Mick
Format:Kindle Edition
'Through Darkness and Stars' takes up the story of 'Unearthed' almost gleefully, as if the auther felt "this is where I want to be and what I want to tell about".

'Through Darkness and Stars' tells of the unintentional, at least from humanities point of view, exodus of mankind. Driven before two implacable foes, on a search for a new home and for the aid of the more advanced civilisations that have fled before them. A classic space opera.

It also looks at the concept of 'godhood' evolving and arising from lesser species, and the idea that the spiritual side of reality could be cyclical - God creats universe, which evolves life, which evolves intelligence and spirituality, and which eventually revolves godhood.

I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend both books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time, space, tech, aliens and war... Wow.. Candy. 19 Jan. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Take NO heed of the previous review. He freely admits deleting the book before completing its opening chapters and so disqualfies himself from competent comment on this work.
The story, written with its unique "stop- start" style gathers gradual yet almost infinite momentum over the two books linking enormous distances, intergalactic events, and aeons long passages of time together to draw you the reader into it further with every turn of your kindles page.

Take my advice.. Download it and enjoy it. Roll on book three!

3.0 out of 5 stars You cannot just rely on the spell checker. 6 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story was quite a good read and showed a wide if superficial attempt at research. Unfortunately any proof reading was woefully inadequate and not solely because of the American spelling.

I am also convinced (maybe wrongly) that large sections were contributed by a woman. This may be chauvinistic but not meant to be derogatory. The attention to descriptive detail of clothing and appearance yet passages describing combat were far from convincing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Omniverse Through Darkness and Stars 22 Jan. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Famtastic sci fi - would recommend this series of books to all fans of the genre. Higly believable characters, and their struggle to save Earth, while also having to comsider their departure from Earth to find a habitable planet. Can only hope that these stories do not end here - come on Steve - this 66 year old sci fi fanatic is awaiting your next book!

Apart from several slight typing errors this novel has a grand scope and full of strong characters. I usually take at least a week to read a novel. I read this one in two days. Cant wait to read the sequel. I also intend to read the Unearthing, which I believe is a prequel to Omniverse Through Darkness and Stars.
