Having lived and mixed with a number of individuals that match the definition of a "sloane ranger", I believe that this book provides a fascinating and amusing read. Even to those amongst the British population who have not experienced the pleasure of mixing with these types of people, this book alongside its companion "The Sloane Ranger Diary" will enable the reader to receive a great insight into the way of life that the higher echelons of our society enjoy. However, after having mixed with these individuals I can most certainly guarantee that the authors definitely employ a stereotypical narrative about this social group, which is very much a parody!!
Nevertheless, I would recommend to anybody that reading these two books will provide them with a stimulating and witty read as well as a unique cultural insight about how our ex-colonial forefathers and for want of a better word "masters" go about their daily lives, especially in the social context. The reader will also obtain a sound knowledge of the mentality and core values that the Sloane embodies.
