5.0 out of 5 stars GMAT Official review 12th edition 21 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
I bought the 12th edition of the official GMAT guide and supplemented it with the 2009 versions of the Quantative and the Verbal review books for my GMAT test last year. I was not taking any revision courses (since I was funding this myself) and so was solely reliant on these books.
I found that running through the section prep section and sample questions in this book were sufficient to prepare me for the course (the supplemental guides provided more different questions which I found beneficial). As stated before, some of the earlier questions are easy but there are enough to cover all difficulty levels. The majority of the explanations for the answers were clear enough to understand.
I can't comment about the other guides as I haven't used them but I found that buying these three books was sufficient and it's clear that the questions asked are in the style of the real test.
As a final recommendation, I used the sample tests on the GMAT.com website to prepare for the style of the test and for more questions. This gave a good impression of the test and the timing restrictions faced (my experience was it was tight to finish all questions for the quantative section).
Overall, worth buying in addition to the Official guide and to help prepare for the test.

4.0 out of 5 stars OG 12 31 Jan 2011
By Aloha
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Well as book title says it is official guide and it has more than 800 retired real GMAT questions, its good book to start your GMAT preparation.

Number of Question in each sections are

Problem Solving : 230
Data Sufficiency : 174
Reading Comprehension : 139
Critical Reasoning : 124
Sentence Correction : 140
And there is one Diagnostic Test as well so 100 more questions.

Please Note if you already have The Official Guide for GMAT Review 11 then there are only 200 questions are different in this editions.

Following points about this book.

1. This gives you real taste of real GMAT questions.
2. But this book is not for building your basics or concepts for that you should buy some other book such as Manhattan GMAT, Set of 8 Strategy Guides.
3. Along with this book try OG verbal and OG quantitative.
4. Problem in this book comes with clear explanation why one choice is right and why others are wrong.

I find the paper quality of this book is not very good paper are very thin.

Overall if you are serious about GMAT this is best place to start, and you need lots of practice.
