I have loved Enid Blyton's stories ever since my Nana gave me a copy that belonged to my mother when I was about eight. The O'Sullivan twins are very good, though I would always choose Malory Towers over them, to be honest. I suppose it's because Malory Towers is written for older readers and St. Clare's seems to be a little bit simpler. Also, a lot of the story-lines in this series seem to get repeated a lot, there's always a snobbish prude who gets taught a lesson in kindness and because some of the stories are written later, by a different author, there is sometimes a jolting difference in writing style, but for a child aged between ten and fourteen, that shouldn't make much difference.

Pat and Isabel, the identical O'Sullivan twins, have settled in happily at St.Clare's. Of course the girls get into mischief but they make friends with everyone. Everyone, that is, except bad tempered, sulky Margery Fenworthy, whom nobody likes. But then a very dramatic event at school changes all that.

I used to read all the Enid Blyton (boarding school) books when I was a child - and it's great that my ten year-old grand-daughter loves them. She is reading her way through all the St Clare's books and plans to go on to the Mallory Towers set. They are timeless.
