Beautiful Story & Illustrations 7 Dec 2010
By Kristine M. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
As soon as a saw a new book illustrated by Alison Jay, I immediately pre-ordered this book. If you love the rest of her work, you will be happy with this beautiful story with illustrations. Perfect for the 4-7 year old. I also highly recommend "I took the Moon for a Walk" and "Listen, Listen!" large board books illustrated by Alison Jay, which are not only beautiful but rhythmical and fun for both the reader and listener.

Great Nutcracker book if you love the ballet version! 5 Dec 2011
By LG - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Too many Nutcracker books for kids tell the "wrong" story - with a lead character named Marie instead of Clara, for example. This book (with Clara as the lead) is perfect if your kids love the ballet/Balanchine version of Nutcracker, which this book is patterned after. Mother Ginger even makes and appearance, which many books (and ballets!) leave out. Allison Jay's illustrations are captivating as always.

Magical version of a wonderful Christmas story! 30 Dec 2010
By Jason - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
My 3-year old daughter and I love all of Allison Jay's books so as soon as I saw this new book I immediately ordered it! This book quickly became one of my daughter's favorites. The illustrations are magical and make you feel as if you are in the story. My daughter begged me to read this book every night and when we went to see the Nutcracker ballet she knew exactly what was happening and kept shouting out the names of the characters and dancers (i.e. "there's Mother Ginger!). I was originally thinking this would be a Christmas book to pull out each year but I think this one is staying out in the bookshelf for year-round enjoyment!
