Not what you'd expect from Estrus 22 Mar 2001
By J. Castaldi - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This Texan band blows me away! Doesn't really fall in with the garage rock you'd expect on the Estrus roster as the band tends to steer away from the traditional trappings of that genre. Really strange song structures, stiff-yet-somehow-still-swingin' rhythms a la Gang of Four, discordant screamy guitar, and a singer that sounds like a drunken Mark E. Smith of The Fall. Closest contemporary comparison would be Skull Kontrol (whose two awesome EPs on Touch & Go are also worthy of your attention). Great stuff, check out the song samples and go crazy. "Jump Up For the Get Down" is especially dynamite.

Wish I could give it zero stars 18 May 2001

Not only is this horrible generic garage rock swill, but the guys in this band are jerks as well. Avoid if you have any sort of musical sensibility.
