Got these a year ago, and loved them straight out of the box. A great fit, the ergonomic footbed is very comfortable. Combined with the Vibram sole, these gave a lot of confidence when walking on loose surfaces.
Problems started to arise after about 8 months use, when one of the laces snapped. Trying to source a suitable replacement is a nightmare as these are a lot narrower than the standard lace. Eventually found some that fitted, but it took a while. Don't expect any help from TNF over this :-(
Then they started leaking. Now, I don't expect things to last forever, but surely a walking shoe should last more than 12 months before being replaced? I haven't been out Munro-bashing or any serious hiking, but the material around the toes started to break up, and coming away from the sole. Emails were sent to TNF asking about guarantee periods and coverage, but as with sourcing replacement laces, the reply was a deafening silence.
My walking shoes normally last me around 3-4 years before being despatched to the great path in the sky, these are finished after 14 months.
In short, get these if you normally replace your shoes every year, otherwise they are an expensive hiking shoe. TNF went down a long way in my estimations following this purchase.
