Book Description

After a session with a new patient, Dr. Janet Newman feels certain that her patient is telling the unbelievable truth about being visited sixteen times by a winged creature called Dark Falcon.

Dr. Newman, a psychiatrist in the metropolis of Troncol, delves into the secret world of Dark Falcon and discovers that he is both a superhero worshiped by the population, and a malevolent sadist, preying on women.

As more facts are unearthed, Janet sets out to put an end to Dark Falcon's reign, freeing the city of his control.

The Nineteenth Encounter grabs the reader's attention from the first page as it races toward a dramatic ending.

i don't usually read superhero or fantasy stuff, but i
was intrigued by the title.
the action starts out kinda slow but by the time i got
to the fourth chapter i couldn't quit reading.
this was an entertaining book and a good way to spend an
afternoon, especially considering it's by a first-time
author.
and the price was right.
i recommend it if you like crime and fantasy settings.
hope to see more of murdock. he needs to fight some
more criminals.
4.0 out of 5 stars Quick, easy, enjoyable read. 30 May 2011

The Nineteenth Encounter: A Superhero Fable was a quick, easy read. I agree with the other reviews that this novel could use more character development. At least the main characters need to be developed. The Lux Diamond character was awesome, and I wish she had been in the book more. For that reason alone I gave it four stars. I will say this author didn't bore me with hundreds of pages of backstory or purple prose that is so common in bestselling books. This novel was all action driven. A. S. Albrecht does have a knack for scenes and character interactions. I could feel the tension in the chapter where Dark Falcon visits Charlotte for their nightly trysts. He really is no hero. With a little more practice, I think her/his next novel could be a five star read. I will agree that the ending was a page turner. I don't know of too many heros that end up that way. Will definitely keep an eye out for this author's next book.

I had never read a super hero story before. This one was full of twists, surprises, and a great ending. I hope that Ms Albrecht will give us more.

I had to find out what the Hunk on the cover was up to. This book with many characters and several subplots held me under its spell. I could not put it down and stayed up until 0300 to finish. All the plots came together in a very nice ending and was such a surprise. One that I did not guess. I hope there will be a sequel.

This story was a real "page-turner". Very well written, especially for a first-time author. Couldn't put the book down once the story got under way. Characters were well developed and engaging; description very rich and thought-provoking. Looking forward to more books from A.S. Albrecht.
