Book Description

1 Mar 2013
The beautiful, quiet and often little known nine-hole golf courses offer even the lowest handicap golfer a challenge and with a level of difficulty rarely found on 18 hole courses it's hardly surprising that there are even nine hole courses no one has ever played below par.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brillant 22 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
There is only one way to describe this book, absolutely brillant!. A detailed list of nine hole golf courses in Scotland with almost all the details you need. Lots of photos which was good. The only two annoying things I found were that some of the photos of courses were not in the sections that the golf courses were listed. And a lack of website addresses in the club listings.

It is a pity that the author didn't or couldn't cover all the courses in Scotland the way he has done here as I know it would have been a sell out!. Hopefully someone covers the eighteen hole courses using the same format.

3.0 out of 5 stars 144 Page Listing Book 12 Jan 2012
By JP Czar - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you are looking for a list of the 9-hole courses in Scotland - this is the book for you, albeit an expensive guide for these courses. Much (or most) of this information could be just as easily taken from the Internet.

Perhaps it was my mistake. Perhaps I expected more. I have been reading a lot of books on the topic of Golfing in Scotland. Frankly, I was running out of titles, so I ordered this book. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this...

This book is an oversized 'pocket-book' and 144 pages. There are a few pages in the front about the joys of golfing on nine holes and the remainder of the book is a listing of the 9-Hole courses in Scotland. Missed: history, culture, why-nine???

I recently read - Golf on the Rocks, by Gary Sutherland. He chronicled his golfing exploits on the islands around Scotland. Many of the courses he played were 9-hole courses. It was a great book. So I thought, I would try and pick up a book specific to these shorter wee-courses.

Early in the book the author tells the reader that he sent around questionnaires to all of the 9-hole courses in Scotland. This is his methodology for compiling the books information. He then wrote the book with their responses along with some comments - not very interesting stuff.
5.0 out of 5 stars Short but interesting guide 18 Jan 2014
By Charles L. Jordan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Compact guide with brief descriptions of the 9-holers in Scotland. Interesting and a worthy addition to my collection of guides and planning materials. Shares good local color and interesting anecdotes about many of the courses. Not the only guide you will need, but I bet you find a hidden gem or out-of-the-way worthy stop by checking this book out.
