After Bruce's mother is viciously attacked and raped, he learned that she is aware of the brute's identity but refuses to name him. With his fiercely competitive best friend Roger, he sets out to discover who he is and bring him to justice. They face an unthinkable future when the attacker dies and Bruce loses both legs in a boating accident when fighting with the criminal, but Roger finds the perfect solution to be even again by placing his legs on the rail as a train approaches, after a drunken binge.
Bruce was charged with murder by a zealous District Attorney up for re-election and faces trial on crutches.
From the Indian doctor, to the wise and funny Romanian man and a judge with a mean manner and twitching eye, there is something in this book for everyone...
