I love Awakenings (aka Rude Awakenings) and Columbus Eclipse. They capture some of the great energy TTF had live. Although this album has some great things going for it such as the superb musicianship of Michael McGoldrick, these are often overpowered by early 1990s electric guitar solos that seem to be the plague of many of that era's folk music, e.g. Davy Spillane's Shadow Hunter.
Another disappointment was the change of lead vocalist. The songs didn't quite feel like TTF's earlier work. The CD is certainly worth checking out, but I just know I won't be playing it as much as TTF's other work which I love!

For anyone who has the Columbus Aclipse album or the other one released my Magnetic Music I would reccomend ths. It completes the set and I find myself playing this album and the others in the car, at home.... infact everywhere.

Great music from a beautiful and friendly country

When in Ireland eight years ago, my husband kept listening to the same American singer CD's over and over. I finally went into a music store in the quaint village of Doolin and asked for a recommendation from the salesperson. He handed me this CD and it was and remains a goldmind. I love the mix of rock with the celtic sounds. It definitely takes me back.

I recently downloaded this CD in MP3 format - after one listen, I promptly bought the CD. How's that for the anti-MP3 crowd? Music I might have never come across is now happily nestled in my CD Changer.
The CD starts out strongly and never wavers - I can only describe it as upbeat folk-rock with a celtic undercurrent. The lead singer reminds me of Elvis Costello with the shape and sound of his voice.
Guitars, drums, flute, pipes, fiddles - This is a wonderful musical feast for my ears. Every song has my wishing I were in an Irish pub with a Guiness in my hand.
I whole-heartedly recommend "Next Round" to anyone.
