By Don Pelayo TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
The history of the Christian faith is a very difficult subject to write about as the topic is vast and some background knowledge is required before hand.
Also writer tend to let their ideas transpire into the book they are writing.

I was very impressed when I read this book as is very well written and is addressed to the general public with no previous historical or religious background.

It follows the time lime of Christianity from the death of Jesus until the present day, and (gladly) covers the entire planet.

The book is very well divided into chapters that make the reading easier and illustrated with useful maps and colour photographs. This book should be read by many people including those who attack Christianity without understanding it first.

Disappointed 3 Jun 2011
Format:Paperback
I had been lent a copy of A Lion Handbook: The History of Christianity (revised edition 1990).I was struck by the attractive and clear format, the excellent illustrations and the quality of the material and I therefore decided to order a copy for myself - why not the latest edition? surely this would be even better in every way!
I concede that I am not being totally fair on the new book because I have read very little of it - for reasons to be explained. The BIG DRAWBACK is the print size. No doubt the contents are still as excellent as before but for me (indeed I assure you, there is nothing wrong with my eyesight!) there is no pleasure in sitting down for a good read when there is an element of 'strain' spoiling the experience. Unfortunately, I still haven't returned the previous book to its owner but until I do, my first instinct is to turn to that one.
