The Quantum Prophecy is the first book in The New Heroes series of superhero adventure books. This opening book tells the story of the next generation of superheroes, as they come into their powers!
The Quantum Prophecy opens with a bang! It's action and drama from the start, with brilliant characterisation. You feel for the characters, and you can't help but turn the page to find out how they get out of the tight spots that they are thrust into at full-force!
The main characters, Renata, Colin and Danny, are true teens and preteens. Renata (the oldest among them) wants to be just like the adults, and take on the villains alongside them. Danny is growing up, and all of the girls swoon for him, but he's far too shy, and afraid of growing up, to notice. Colin is trying to live up to his dad's expectations, while trying not to show his jealousy of his best friend, Danny.
There's so much attention to detail, and it reads so well. The Quantum Prophecy truly feels like a comic, in that, the prose doesn't get in the way of the story, and the visuals just pop into your head in an instant. The pacing is fantastic.
If you're someone looking for a book full of unnecessary over-description, then this isn't for you.
The book is written with young adults in mind, but it still doesn't pull punches. Anything can happen.
I have yet to meet someone who has read this book to the end and didn't want to read the next one.
To sum up: well worth reading!
