i have had M>E for the passed 3 years now and the only thing i have never really tried in a bid to help myself was a change in my diet ... a friend suggested that i should look out the New Raw Energy as it wasnt just a diet ..but a different way of life and a way to help yourself look after number one . I have been on the raw energy plan for 4 weeks now and aswell as losing weight (12lbs) i feel that every step i am taking is helping me to be more positive in my fight to rid myself of this illness ..what is also good is that you dont have to buy loads of gadget stuffs this is all wholesome stuff and what Leslie kenton explains all makes sence ... my skin has felt really good from the brushing ..This book is definately worth a read if you are sick of the junk food that modern living allows up to pump into ourselves and feel like you are helping yourself become more healthy .

This book is very similar in diet style to Fit for Life by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond, in that it is based on the idea of not combining a starch and a protein together in the same meal. It also is the same as it's main rule is nothing but fruit until lunchtime. This book however goes one step further to sugest that 70% of our food should be eaten raw which can only be if you think about it fruit and vegetables. It is good in that it is about optimum nutrition for the mind and body rather than a particular weight loss diet. However there are a few pages on how the plan can help you lose weight and I think this diet would be particularly good for someone who has lost their weight and wants to maintain it without calorie counting or portion control. It alsohas some interesting advice on juicing. However I think this book would suit best an experienced dieter or someone who is already a vegetarian or vegan as animal and dairy products are not recommended by the author so information onhowto properly eat them is limited. This wouldn't be a good diet book for someone starting out on a diet from scratch as it wouldn't take you long to feel deprived and unhappy, but if you are ready to go through the optimum nutrition phase then this is the book for you.
I would recommend this book.

I first came across this book twenty six years ago and it's ideas and concepts have been a guide and inspiration to eating healthier ever since. At the time I had an major operation on my jaw and faced ten weeks with jaws wired up. The liquid diet recommended to me by the hospital nutritionist looked like liquid cardboard and convinced me I needed to look elsewhere for ideas. Then I came across this inspirational book. As a result I switched to a raw liquid diet following the guidelines and some of the liquid recipes in the book.

My condition at the time was complicated by pretty severe asthma (and eczema) which posed quite a problem if I'd had an attack. The unexpected bonus of the diet was the first freedom from an asthma attack and wheezing in my, then, 23 years of life, and my eczema pretty much cleared up completely.

This was a life-changing experience as up until then I'd been told that only medicines could make a difference to my condition. This was clearly untrue.

Since then, when my sister's baby boy suffered from severe eczema and nothing was making a significant difference, I suggested some of the things I'd learnt from this book. She tried them and within 2 weeks was convinced. You would now be very hard pushed to realise he had any skin complaint whatsoever.

This original edition of the book is much more straightforward than (in my opinion) the later editions containing food combining.

This, for me, is one of the few books I can really say was life-changing and lead my to a life that is largely free from medicines for asthma and eczema. A book that is truly recommended.
