    First Sentence
AT THE END of the nineteenth century a new interest in muscle-building arose, not muscle just as a means of survival or of defending oneself; there was a return to the Greek ideal-muscular development as a celebration of the human body. Read the first page

This book is exactly what it says it is- an encyclopedia. It is divided into no less than five "books." Measuring in at about one and a half inches thick, if the info contained inside doesn't help you get bigger, just try lifting the book!

A quick rundown of each chapter. The first book is basically an introduction to bodybuilding, covering a lot of miscellaneous, but important topics. The second book covers the training programs, the third the body part exercises, and the fourth book competing. The fifth and last book covers nutrition and diets.

As you can tell, there's really only one word to describe this book- comprehensive. Would have liked to see a little more on injuries, for example there only about a half page on shoulder injuries, but then again this isn't exactly a sports medicine book either. Weightlifters who have a shoulder problem or rotator cuff tear might also want to take a look at Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff.

    Great read 22 Feb 2010
    Format:Paperback
Based on all the 5 star reviews I decided to purchase this book.

for the past 2 weeks or so, I have been reading about 30 pages a day, and I have picked up alot of knowledge on such matters as nutrician, workout programmes , exercises and dieting.

Although I have not covered the whole book yet, I could not recommend it any higher.

A must buy for anyone interested in bodybuilding.

Bodybuiling must have 26 July 2010
By Andrew TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
    Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is massive and really is an encyclopedia. The book itself is in several different chapters and has been created by the man who brought bodybuling into the spotlight! It is a must read for anyone who is bodybuiling or thinking about competing I feel as Schwarzenegger literally defined the wheel!

The book opens with a general introduction to Bodybuiling before going into various training programmes. It the goes onto training plans and exercises for specific body parts. THis is a good source of reference for anyone looking for something new or indeed to mix their training up a bit. Diets and nutrition are also covered a sthey are key to solid growth.

This boo is massive and should keep a bodybuilder busy for a long time. But to say this book is only of interest to body builders would be unfair. It is a comprehensive training reference book that could benefit manhy and has yet to be bettered by anyone else in my opinion. I certainly haven't seen in books as comprehensive or informative as this.
