Product Description

Review

Waggoner introduces zombie PI Matthew Richter and his hometown of Nekropolis, the city of the dead, in this imaginative, morbidly witty, and frightening series launch. Vivid description and characterization, as well as a complex, intricately crafted setting reminiscent of J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter universe, keep the pages turning at a rapid rate as Richter embarks on an enthralling tour of the dead city, from the vampire-filled streets of Gothtown to the bustling clubs and seedy dives of the Manhattanlike Sprawl. Both horror and mystery readers will be delighted by this horror-noir adventure. --Publishers Weekly (starred review)

4.0 out of 5 stars Horrendous in a good way 6 July 2012

This is a collection of three books and some stories.
I have enjoyed all three books and the short stories were quite good as well.

Nekroplis:

Fun Horror

This was an amusing and generally light hearted book. The plot is maybe a little basic but I did enjoy this novel. It made me smile to myself on several occasions. The hero is a very engaging character.

The world building is surprisingly well done and the setting was pretty interesting and seems to have lots of scope for more stories

Dead Streets:

Here be monsters

This was quite enjoyable. If you liked the first book in the series then you will probably like this one. Though this also works as a standalone novel.

There are plenty of amusing moments and the hero of the book is a well done parody of the typical hard boiled private eye.

The plot did get slightly simplistic towards the end but I still got plenty of enjoyment out of this.

Dark War:

Monster Hunt

The third in the series and as enjoyable as the first two. This works well on its own merits and you don't need to have read any of the others to follow the storyline.

I felt that the plot in this was a little more complex than the others in the series but it was just as amusing.

There are fairly warm hearted books and maybe for my taste are a tad too sentimental Many of the characters were amusing and these books are very well done.

I enjoyed this and would read more books in this series.

One of my all time favorite series. Part detective mystery with a large dose of fantasy and a little Sci Fi. There are some really good twists on classic creatures like zombies and vampires. We are also introduced to new fantasy species. Tim Waggoner has a great imagination.

The world building to too much of the story, it was hard to pay attention to what the story was going to try to be

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story! 27 May 2013

I loved that the zombie was the good guy in these books! Never thought about a zombie detective and he isn't a super powered zombie he still has to worry about whether his hands are going to fall off or if he is starting to get a little aromatic! I love the adventures he takes and all the trouble he finds, I HOPE there is another book to come because the ending although it did end it sort of left an opening fora future book. If you like supernatural urban mysterious then these books are fun, fast and adventure packed with a little bit of everything for everyone. Great side characters, neat take on the supernatural world. Give it a try!
