THE NEIGHBOUR 24 July 2009
Format:Hardcover
Another winner for Lisa Gardner. I read this book in 2 sittings as i couldnt put it down. Well written - gripping - just when you think you know who dunnit! you dont.

The story centres around a young married couple - Sandra and Jason Jones, who have a four year old daughter Ree. Sandra works days, Jason works nights so that one of them is always at home with their daughter.

One morning Jason arrives home to find Sandra missing - the police are informed.

Jason becomes suspect No. 1

Why is he so unwilling to help the police? Why does he refuse to volunteer information? and what is he hiding?

Just what does suspect No.2 a young convicted child molester - living a few doors away from Jason know

Enter Sandras charming but sinister father into the story and the twists and turns become even more engrossing.

Some of the characters from a previous novel appear in this book adding more interest and intrigue.

All is revealed in the end - but not as you may think.

I fully recommend this book - a rivetting read!

A young mother, Sandra Jones, goes missing from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four year old daughter. The police immediately start to suspect her secretive husband, Jason, who was at work, at the time of the disappearance.

I thought this book just plodded for the first 150 pages. I was thinking that it was a thriller without the thrills. Also, it was hard to relate to the main characters of the Jones family, as we know so little about them. Sandra goes missing very early on, husband, Jason is as cold as ice, and the daughter, Ree is
just a kid.

However, as the book progressed, I started to enjoy it, as more details about the characters, and their strange family life was revealed. Overall, I thought the novel was a solid read, but by no means outstanding.

Great read! 10 Aug 2009
Format:Hardcover
I've read all of Lisa Gardner's books and they've all been fabulous reads. I started reading The Neighbour on Friday evening and finished it on Sunday evening - hardly doing a hands turn all weekend, as I was so engrossed in the book and just had to find out what happened in the end.

I am a voracious reader and have become hard-to-please over the past couple of years: if a book doesn't grip me by page 2 it gets dropped and I go on to the next in the pile. If I say I read 2-3 books a week, I mean I READ them and enjoy them and not struggle through sludge!

Fans of Ms Gardner will not be disappointed in her latest book and I highly recommend it to new readers!

Enjoy!
