2.0 out of 5 stars Not Great 15 April 2013
By C. M. Cotton TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This 35 minute CD contains very little real and worthy advice on how to improve your negotiation skills in your life. There are about 3 to 4 key ideas that are put forward and the rest is utter waffle. If you want products to help you become a better negotiator, without going to specialist, high brow authors, then have a read of audios and books produced by Brian Tracy. Tracy offers products on topics such as negotiating, designed to appeal to the mass market and are full of ideas and tips on how to become better at this key skill.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dire- Save your Cash. 4 Feb 2013
By Glenn Cook HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
At 35 minutes in length this single CD is about 30 minutes too long.

The author Dr Joshua N. Weiss takes 30 minutes to waffle on and on about American examples which have little relevance to the UK listener.

I had hoped that this CD would include `tools' to help me negotiate in life.
As the title suggests.

This is not the case there are about 3 good ideas that could easily have been said in 5 minutes flat.
One is in a 1 of deal ie buying a house you don't have to worry about what the seller thinks afterwards. ` D'oh'
Secondly if you negotiate with a person do you really need to give way on some aspect why not think about some other advantage.
Thirdly don't barter too low to start with.
See what I mean 5 minutes tops to explain?

The CD is one of 3.
The fact that the other two are `linked' makes this purchase a little silly when you'd need to buy the other two.

I can honestly say that if I were you I would not bother.

Top put it simply this is no `how to book at all'.

I would save your money.

Negative reviews aren't popular and there is normally something good to say about most things but this is the example that proves the rule.

This CD is excellent if you want to either a)hang it in the chicken coop to amuse the hens or b)you're a poor sleeper - 5 minutes of it and you'll be fast away.

The author/narrator drones on in a nasal monotone with no inflection. He can't be bothered to use real-life examples - just pretend imaginary ones between Jack and Jean, John and Gill etc. When addressing us on how his CD may help the family he says it offers "essential strategic tools" to use on them. Oh, Lordy, lordy. Heaven help us all. If I deployed these tools on my family they'd shove right back up my bottom. Some of his examples to key points are specific to the USA. I could go on but it's pointless.

He claims to be a "leading expert in negotiation". Checking wiki, I found that he really is. I have no idea why he thought this junk would help anyone. I did listen to the whole ghastly thing. It's a salutary lesson on how not to do it. I won't be taking him up on his free offer of an online workbook. I'm so hacked off with losing 45 minutes of my life I can't even face correcting the grammar of this review. Sorry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be prepared for this fast talker. 13 Dec 2013
By Pat Campbell VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Dr Joshua N Weiss an expert on negotiation, crams so much into this 35 minute CD. I know I will have to play it several times to help it all sink in but I liked the information and the examples that he gave regarding negotiation at home and in the work place. There are basic facts about what negotiation means and how to go about doing it successfully and it's all about what we want out of the talks and how much we are prepared to give. There are various scenarios based on the circumstances involved in the negotiations involving buying, a business contract, work conditions and relationships/work in the home. People have requirements and they need to be met either through compromise or serious baiting, manipulation and working out what the other party wants and how far you and they are prepared to go. The internet is a great help too as this can give you more of an idea about what you are dealing with and how to gen up on the opposition.

Worth listening to and getting the best out of negotiations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Panpipe Relaxation II with Alan Partridge 25 Oct 2013
By DJ Bez
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
First things first, this is nothing to do with the BBC. It is merely published by the same American company that now has the rights to manufacture and distribute BBC Audiobooks products that were previously sold by, er, BBC Audiobooks!

That much of the CD is taken up by ads for this titles equally poor companions (namely ...At Home and ...At Work) is bad enough, but the actual content is appalling. This title is squarely aimed at the US market and is pretty dreadful.

There is not one thing I could recommend from this CD. The best way to improve your life, is to avoid this product. Very poor and I didn't even bother to view the free PDF worksheets.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money 25 Feb 2014
By D. P. Mankin TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Oh dear, what a disappointment. Where do I begin? The word 'woeful' springs to mind. I've had the misfortune to listen to another audio recording in the series and the only difference is that this one is a few minutes longer - and at the time more expensive. Quality? Don't even consider the concept. Where's the breadth and depth? There's certainly none to be found here. Listening to it reminded me of listening to a summary of a summary. I was left with the nagging feeling: why bother? I'd love someone at the BBC to answer that question. Value for money? That's a joke. Avoid unless you don't mind throwing your loose change into a black hole.
