More About the Author

Jane Johnson is a chartered physiotherapist with a passion for helping massage therapists and other health and fitness professionals to understand common assessment and treatment methods. As a former massage therapist and fitness instructor herself, she appreciates the challenges and opportunities facing these professionals. She is the author of four titles in the Hands-On Guides for Therapists series. These are, Postural Assessment, Therapeutic Stretching, Soft Tissue Release, and Deep Tissue Massage. Jane grew up in central London where she had worked all of her life. In 2012 she bought an unmodernised house and moved to the north of England in order to spend more time writing. She currently works part time as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in occupational health. She can frequently be seen walking along the coast in the early hours of the morning with her three large rescue dogs, or late at night ambling up and down the alleyways with her canine companions. At other times she is wrapped in blankets drinking tea and writing her latest book.

Inspirational book full of great tips for improving your practice and taking your work on to the next level. We got our copy this morning and we could not stop reading it in between appointments. It is a handy size and absolutely packed with information. Follow the advice in this book and your practise will never be the same again! Thank you Jane Johnson!

This is a must have read for those serious about helping people out of pain. The neck has a series of very small muscles which have a very big job to do holding up the head, and therefore they are vulnerable to a lot of tension, tightness and pain. It makes a huge difference to do deep and specific work on the muscles of the neck and Janes' book tells us how to do this safely. Your clients will love you because it will make a fantastic difference to their quality of life by reducing tension and pain in this area, especially for people who have to focus on a PC day after day and also for those with physical jobs! Also read Janes' 'therapeutic stretching' book for stretching techniques to this area, and teach your clients how to help themselves! Keep up the good work Jane, your books teach therapists good practical and specific advice for helping people in pain.

The booklet didn't really teach me anything new so I was a bit disappointed. Others may find it very handy.
