"The Missing Jeep" (29 March 1959), "Operation Fag End" (5 April 1954), "Number One's Chair" (12 April 1954) and "The Fairground Lights" (19 April 1954). "The Navy Lark", one of radio's longest running laughter-makers, kept the nation on the crest of a wave from 1959 to 1977. All at sea in the Senior Service were conniving Chief Petty Officer Jon Pertwee, silly-ass Sub-Lieutenant Leslie Phillips, and the constantly bemused Dennis Price as 'Number One', while Tenniel Evans made mischief as Leading Seaman Goldstein. These four superb episodes show why "The Navy Lark" is part of the Golden Age of Comedy.

I grew up with what I term as the best years of radio, & to once again listen to the great comedy that was around on the radio throughout the 40's, 50s, & 60s, is a real treat for me, & what a fantastic series The Navy Lark was.
What a pity that we no longer have radio today that was as good as it once was?
