DVD Description

Created by Witold Swietnicki and Krzysztof Jaworski, The Naked takes place in an office where the characters are some clerks. Their life is full of dangers as a lot can happen in the working hours of an office: a dog can bite us, they can be giving away tinned knuckle in the social department, a phone operator from the room next door can drop in for some gossip, someone can get an electric shock, you can have some coffee, listen to the radio, watch TV, finally someone can blow up the whole office by mistake. The characters in The Naked are not professional actors, but normal people placed in an abnormal situation. The idea is mad but intriguing with everything looking normal - desks, phones, gossip, tea, coffee – but the clerks and customers are naked, raising all sorts of questions about our attitudes to nakedness and inter-office relationships.

The Naked (Golasy) is very different and there is something very shocking about it. All of the people in this movie are naked. This includes both women and men -- young, old, fat and lean. It is a story about office workers and their usual and unusual daily activities. All of the events in this Polish film take place in one day, mostly in a one-room office.

The Naked creates a strong feeling like you are watching theater. Considering that this is the first film all the actors stared in, I was impressed that they created this feeling. Even though they are amateurs, they didn't appear to be shy or distracted by each other's nudity. The viewer, on the other hand, will have quite a hard time not being distracted.

Even though everyone in this film is naked, there is no sex. They act like each other's nudity is normal and may comment on another's appearance, but their comments are not erotic. In a way, The Naked comes closer to resemble art than it does pornography because it takes this approach.

The women in the office don't do much real work but chatter and gossip away all day. A few women and several men, who bring the drama with them, visit our "hard working" office girls. The events that ensue range from the mundane to the ridiculous but most of what they do is funny.

I have to give The Naked a lot of credit for being original. It's a very funny movie that made my face hurt from laughing and smiling so much. If you are looking for something very different, enjoy the theater or ever wondered what the world would look like if no one wore clothes, then The Naked is for you. All in all, it is a very shocking film filled with a lot of humor.

An office undressed to the bare skin. People working on the office and people visiting the place do not wear any stitch.
As they are so completely naked, it's easy to see all the plays they play with each other. How some dominate and some are dominated. As for the boss, he is transferred to mental care during the day, we follow. He returns.
In the hierarchic bottom we see the youngest and most competent of them all, a young woman striving to relate to a charming younger technician who very ineffectively takes care of the computer. And - as good as he can - of the charming young.
What does such an office produce during the day?
Nothing. Nothing at all.
The manuscript of the film could not produce an real ending, so therefore the final develops to a farce. Let it.
Unfortunately the transmission to dvd is very poor, leaving pictures with bad resolution to put it mildly. Such a pity. Cp

This film is a kind of experiment/provocation. My respect to the actors - naturals, who agreed to exposing their bodies and managed to act as if they're dressed up. The verbal layer has no importance here - it's just people doing plain talk about office routines and all-day's life. All is meant to be provocative, but perhaps most provocative is the farting scene (too realistic, to be just funny). Altogether it is unique show and I still remember it quite well after a few years, although I probably wouldn't like to see it again - naked truth may be quite disturbing. So, if you are looking for a cheap porn - don't waste your money on this film. But if you're looking for new perspective and are ready to doing some (perhaps disturbing) discoveries - then closely observe your own reactions while watching this film. Interesting things may appear on your side, rather than on the screen. I guess, this was the creators' intention, too.
