Book Description

8 July 2002
Fasten your seat belt, it′s all you need to wear. There is a new wave of thinking and action that puts people before process, choice before change, and meaning before money. We are now entering a new business, leadership and global age, with a vision, agenda and spirit born out of the realisation that there has to be a different way of success, business and leadership. One that sets us free from traditional business thinking, and takes you, your business and your life to new levels of awareness, success and achievement. This next business age is in your hands. The Naked Leader is the antithesis to the process driven mentality that has wasted so many millions, destroyed the trust between company and employee, and enabled so many companies to at best stand completely still. The Naked Leader is a distillation of David Taylor′s ideas and inspiration – ideas which have made him Europe′s most sought–after speaker on leadership and personal growth. David is known as the "Naked Leader" because of his extraordinary ability to strip away uncertainty and doubt, and conclusively show that everything we need to be successful, we already have. The Naked Leader shares hundreds of life–changing actions, including: ∗ The fastest way to make any change in your life ∗ How to build deep and lasting rapport with anyone ∗ The 7 most powerful questions on earth ∗ How to change how you feel, in a single heartbeat ∗ The structure of guaranteed success ∗ How to be an awesome presenter ∗ Discovering who you really are, and why you are here The Naked Leader strips away the mystery, hype and jargon, to reveal the single formula for assured success that is available to everyone. The book is a journey which can be taken from beginning to end, or joined at any stage – taking you to wherever you want to be, drawing on the very best leadership thinking around the world, finally revealing the answer to the ultimate question, "who are you and why are you here?" Taylor reveals the exact, specific actions to take to predict the future, and then shape it. As a practitioner, not a theorist, Taylor knows what works, and what does not. He shows us what to do, and exactly when to do it. No matter what your vision, challenge or present position, The Naked Leader ensures that you succeed, making your future no longer a matter of chance, but rather a matter of choice. It is powerful, and the results are amazing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Leadership - the diet version 8 May 2004
Format:Paperback
I will echo the many postive comments written by other reviewers, however...I've read this all before and if far greater detail.
If you prefer a bit more meat on the bone, then Anthony Robbins books, e.g. 'Unlimited Power' will deliver a feast.
I'm not saying David Taylor has brought something new to the party, just somethig smaller and wrapped up differently.
I smiled when I read the bulleted version of Abraham Lincoln's rise to being elected president, as I'd read it in Mr Robbin's book 'Unlimited Power'.
The subject of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is a big one, and I'm all for simplifying subjects so that the ordinary Joe can get their head around it. However, I think reducing it to just over 3 pages is at best a good intro into the subject, and at worst an over-simplication.
There are 51 chapters but a contents page is not provided - this would have been helpful. I had to constantly flick through the headings at the top of each page to navigate my way through the book.
I would suggest this a good entry-level book, it's written in an easy style and there are many short paragraphs that allow you to dip in and out at your leisure. There is more information on this subject of leadership and running your brain out there, just cast your net about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical, simple and it works 28 Aug 2002
Format:Paperback
Firstly, I promise I'm not the author - this is a genuine review!
Many of us have knowledge of and experience in our chosen crafts and professions. We go on with the best intentions, doing what we think is the right, often without real direction and blissfully unaware of our effect on others. Few of us are taught how to define what we really want out of life and, very importantly, what we need to do both as individuals and in our relationships with others.
There are many 'self-improvement' books, seminars and systems on the market ranging from the impenetrable to the extra-terrestrial! And I've experienced a broad selection - I want to do and be the best I can. The Naked Leader shows us not only how to understand ourselves and what we really want, but also what we need to do to achieve it and how to work with other people who are crucial to us achieving what we can.
This book is down to earth, clear, logical and very practical. It neither preaches nor dictates and actively encourages challenge of proposed ideas. It poses key questions that the reader only can ponder and answer.
Another small but crucial eleemnt is that he style of presentation is very culturally relevant to us in the UK, being written in a familiar style and in tune with our social mores (not that it's only for us in the UK by any means).
I will strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to achieve their real potential and develop fruitful working (and personal) relationships, But remember, in the end it's you and not the book that has to do the work!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Choice is Yours 20 Feb 2003
Format:Paperback
The Naked Leader was refreshing and inspirational. David Taylor reminds us of many things we already know but have done nothing about and inspires us to think through the benefits of making choices, taking action and accepting responsibility for those choices and actions. David brings a smile to your face when he makes you realise that not taking action or making decisions is also a choice we make! We can choose to do nothing, we can choose to do the opposite - but the choice is ours. David's style is informal yet informed, easy to read and creates the interest to keep us moving through the journey we choose to take.
I have recommended The Naked Leader to colleagues and friends, including people not currently working but who can benefit from thinking through what choices they have available to them and realising their own potential. This books helps us to think through our choices at both a professional and a personal level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning - this book will set you free! 7 Aug 2002
Format:Paperback
David's is a refreshing message. With his unique journey style, you are not sure at first whether to 'go with the flow' or break his 'rules'. David says it doesn't matter and having read a few journeys, I can honestly say I agree with him. Will you? Only one way to find out! The truth has perhaps never been as stark as it is in this book. Not since my first dip into the Celetine Prophecy has a book had such a profound and I am convinced lasting effect. This material could change people's lives. After September 11th and the recent Corporate scandals in America, many of us are asking the same questions. Come on Corporate Britain .. wake up to the fact that we are here for far more than just to make the accountants and the consultants rich!
Whether you look at this book from the 'traditional' Business angle or from a New Age perspective, I am sure you will find the answers you have been looking for. Laced with humour and a cutting-edge that will no doubt make David many enemies, this book is a must have for anybody! My thirteen year old son read it at the weekend and told me it was a good book 'really cool' and gives good tips on how to work out if his best mate is lying!!!
