latest audio adventure for sapphire and steel, the two beings who deal with threats to reality. In this story an expedition to 1920's cairo, on a search for a lost tomb is struck by a mysterious murder. luckily, two amateur detectives are on the scene.
But there's a bit more to it than that.
Can't say too much about the plot of this one without giving things away as there are some surprising twists and turns to it. The story is narrated by a character played by colin baker, who is very good in this role. The characters are well drawn and well played and could have come from an agatha christie story - although there are some adult elements that she wouldn't have gone for - and sapphire and steel have to approach this investigation in a slightly different manner to their usual one. It's interesting to hear them do this.
There are four episodes. all are longer than twenty five minutes but they all grip so that doesn't matter at all. The third episode ends with the typical whodunnit denoumement with all the suspects being gathered together to hear the truth. and there are clues in the first few episodes. well done if you spot them.
What happens next turns the entire play on it's head. And I won't spoil it for you.
There are references throughout that you get more from if you've heard earlier ones in the series. But you won't forget the last episode in a hurry.
A stunningly good audio, and highly recommended
