5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice on 2012 - a must read topic 23 Dec 2008
By PC
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
If you are looking for a good book on 2012, I recommend this one because it is an excellent book with chapters / essays written by the most authoritative people who have researched and studied the subject for years and decades. It is in 4 parts:
Pt 1 - on the Mayan calendar & cosmovision - explaining the origins and technology, Mayan world.
Pt 2 - on the science, business & politics in the context of 2012 - chapters on the birthing of a new world; the big changes getting to 2012; socially responsible business and nonadversarial politics; understanding the great year / cycles of existence; and more
Pt 3 - on spirituality, signs and symbolism surrounding 2012 - how the clock is ticking; the bible code; an awakening world; the start of a new era; galactic alignment & more
Pt 4 - a new humanity: evolution towards 2012 and beyond - a tantric path to global transformation; awakening to greater reality; the great turning as compass and lens;

The book is very readable and extremely interesting in the breadth of information covered. 2012 is not just about a calendar - there is so much more - it makes us question our conceptions of time itself and how arbitrary everything material is. But the technology is so fantastic - calibrated to pretty great accuracies and it's hard to be overly sceptical - how can we when we're mere grains in a universe that's within multiple universes that is all so intricately infinite.

There has definitely been a lot of peoples who existed before us who knew a lot more than us and they keep leaving clues and information everywhere for us to discover and get our thick heads round . . .

It's not far off and I'd rather be ready than not!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives one a real sense of what 2012 is all about 23 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
This book explains the whole 2012 phenomenon from many different (and well-researched) angles.

It sheds light on all the hyperbole and nonsense that has cropped up around the subject on the internet and elsewhere.

More than that, this book has given me hope.

Yes, the state of the world is pretty critical right now. But maybe, just maybe, the forces of change are powerful enough to transform humanity.

In this book we read about the many very positive things that are going on in the world right now that could indeed lead to a new and golden age for the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complete cover of 2012, with a positive spin. 29 July 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If your looking for a book on 2012, this is it. it's more of a compilation of work from many reputable sources that spans across four main sections, covering every specific aspect of 2012 in good detail, from scientific, ancient beliefs (mayan, hindu) and how these are actually scientific, religious prophecies, and modern research. with a couple of underlining consistent themes throughout, that brings all the individual theories together.

1) the evolution of human consciousness
2) the influence that energy has on physical manifestation

and most of all how we can use this wisdom, to change the world for the better in the short window of opportunity we are currently in.

not only a knowledgeable book but one that will influence the way you conduct your self through life, and allow you to understand the real reality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch this space... 7 April 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this book because I was curious. I didn't want one person's opinion, I did want a broad perspective. This book fulfilled my requirements to that extent, but it drops one star for the poor quality of two essays and the apparently deliberately opaque presentation in two others. So that leaves 22 essays that I did find useful. Now, we just have three years to go before we find out whose predictions, prophecies and possibilities turn out to be accurate!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mystery of 2012 30 Mar 2009
By Mrs. Marilyn Bennett VINE VOICE
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Worth all the time and effort which you will need to read and in places probably reread this work. It is not just one persons views but a complilation of views of people who have been studying the phenomenon that will be 2012. We have our doom and gloom merchants. We have the beating of the drum that this will be the start of a new age when greed will be thrown out and a new age of tolerance will manifest. We have the views that largely 2012 will be a nonevent much like the event of Y2K was when all our computers were supposed to crash and they didn't. There are discussions on what the Mayans may have meant or not meant and we have scientists views on galactic allignment. The New Age movement gets a look in as well with their views being taken seriously and there is also discussion about those who are of non Maya descent who have managed to make themselves a living from all the theories on 2012.
Overall a thoughtful, well put together book which is balanced in its treatment of all the people who gave their time and effort to this book. I think all views and levels of education are catered for so that everyone will be able to take out of the book something which will be of use. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Complicated 30 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is obviously well written and well researched. There's no doubt about that. But, even though I'm an intelligent person, many of the essays went into so much detail that I found many parts uninteresting because they were so complicated, going into minute detail about this symbol and that, and this image represents such and such, and diagrams representing this, that and the other. Oh, goodness me. You'll love this if you like to study things, but if you like an easyish read forget this book. There are a few essays in here which are more straight forward, but possibly not worth buying the book for.
