Unique is a word often used inappropriately, but Sunday Driver certainly beat their own path. Their musicianship is high quality, and their lead singer, Chandy, has a soft and romantic voice that "sits" beautifully into the eclectic rhythms and sometimes unexpected chord sequences. If I had to choose one word to sum up the marriage of Indian traditional instruments with Western(ish) steam punk inspired melodies it would be "enchanting". I have a feeling that this album will remain a favourite of mine for a long time. My favourite track, Mechanical Angel, is also the simplest on the album - Chandy's voice playing in counterpoint to Kat Arney's delicate harp.
