Book Description

1 May 2010 Music Pro Guides
"The Music Producer's Handbook" (another book in Bobby Owsinski's successful "Handbook Series") describes in detail the duties and responsibilities of a music producer. In his thoughtful, down-to-earth, and savvy style, Bobby O. brings his wealth of experience to bear in answering the questions faced by all budding music producers: How do I become a producer? How do I get the best out of the musicians or vocalist? How do I get a great mix? How much money can I make? Covering the entire range of producer concerns, from organising each phase of the production to mastering the final mix, "The Music Producer's Handbook" takes a sometimes intimidating and mystifying process and breaks it down to an entertaining tutorial that will fatten the toolkits of professionals as well as novices. As with all the books in the Handbook series, a third of the book is dedicated to exclusive interviews with name producers who share their techniques and stories with the reader. An accompanying DVD takes the viewer through each phase of the production process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great source of information 29 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Even if you've been recording for a long time, this book serves as a great reference for producing music. Perfect for those starting out, it gives a great overview of the producers role, along with great advice on how to deal with a multitude of situations, and how to run effective sessions. I run a recording studio but I'm not actively involved in sessions, so I bought this book to help fill in a few blanks, and to help me better communicate ideas with my engineer/producer and highlight areas where we could improve the experience for the artists who book with us. Definitely worth a read.

Great book. I wanted some overstanding about what is the producers role. I come from Eu country called Slovenia and we have a lot of music producers but it seems to me that they are not doing their job correctly. So i orded this book and and started reading and got all answers to my questions. Now i realy understand the role of a music producer and more. The workflow, tips and tricks. Interwies with the best in the biz. And on more thing Bobby has a real good way of explaining things it is a easy reading full of interesting issues. Some people are real lucky to have a mentor I am not one of them, with this book and the video Bobby really paved the way for me!
Big up to Bobby Ownsinski

I've been studing music production for almost 4 years, and I have never found a source like Owsinski's book. In this book you'll find every thing you've been looking for, from the basic concepts to very interesting and important lessons, about how to write a song, how to make a musical arrangement, etc. I'm so very glad to have found this treasure, I recomend it, no problem at all, you will enjoy it, I'm sure about that.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is why you have a bookshelf. 15 Nov 2013

You could take fifteen years, working every day, to get the information and insights included in this book. Reading this book will not make you an experienced producer overnight, but it will get you there faster. And not reading this book will cost you in terms of not having something vital at your fingertips when you need it. And you won't even know what you're missing.

Why take the risk. If you are serious about the music business -- as a producer or a musician -- you should own this book.

I have several Owsinski books and they always provide great insight and key concepts for their subject matter. This one is no different. The royalty information and production tips are great.
