Product Description

Own every episode of every series in this complete collection of hit freaky family series The Munsters.

Get ready to be entertained by America`s first family of fright. In this timeless, one-of-a-kind comedy series, the unforgettable family of The Munsters casts a hilarious spell that will keep you laughing through every episode.

Reunite with the wacky and weird Munster clan: Herman, devoted dad and "working stiff"; Lily, the homemaker with sass; Grandpa, a former count who still loves to take a bite out of life; Marilyn, the "black sheep" of the family; and Eddie, a little boy who always loves to have a howling good time. It’s spooky fun that everyone will be screaming about in the Golden Globe-nominated adventures of the frighteningly funny family from Mockingbird Lane.

From Amazon.co.uk

It has its own stormy weather and fire-breathing housepet named Spot, but the mansion at 1313 Mockingbird Heights is otherwise like any other American sitcom home. This is the address of the Munsters, the family that for two seasons, 1964-66, found a permanent place in pop culture--if not "monster" success. Developed by Leave It to Beaver team Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher, the series was a standard sitcom (complete with the same awful canned laughter), except that the Ward Cleaver character was a reanimated corpse. Dad Herman (Fred Gwynne) was a Frankenstein's monster, mom Lily (Yvonne DeCarlo) and Grandpa (Al Lewis) were vampires, and son Eddie (Butch Patrick) a little wolf-boy. Munster niece Marilyn was inexplicably normal, which prompted much worry from the other members of the family (she was played in early episodes by Beverly Owen, who left to get married, and then by Pat Priest). The plots revolve around typically tortured sitcom situations: Herman must lose weight to fit into his old Army uniform, Herman has insomnia, Herman takes dance lessons from a crooked instructor. (As that list would suggest, 6'5" Fred Gwynne's wonderfully agile slapstick and Borscht Belt comedy made him the center of the show.)

What distinguished The Munsters from Father Knows Best was the Universal horror-movie lineage and the ghoulish one-liners (the latter growing a bit tedious after a while). The show was either pure kiddie farce or a radical comment on the absurdly unreal world of sitcoms. Either way, if you grew up with them as an alternate TV family, you can't help but have warm feelings for the Munsters, as clammy as they are. --Robert Horton

First aired in the mid-sixties, this great US comedy features Fred Gwynne as frankenstein monster look-alike Herman Munster, and his vampire father in-law, Grandpa (played by Al Lewis) playing Grandpa's daughter is Lily (Yvonne De Carlo).
Much of the wacky humour is based on the Munster family seeing themselves as "normal" while niece Marilyn (played by Beverley Owen, later to be replaced by Pat Priest) is looked on as an unfortunate young lady who's appearance is "odd" like the rest of society.

Eddie (Butch Patrick) is the werewolf son of Herman and Lily, the great chemistry between Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis is the bedrock of the show. Lily rules the roost, keeping the childlike Herman in check, Grandpa's laboratory in the cellar sees many of his crazy experiments go wrong.
The show also features an occasional appearance by John Carradine as Mr Gateman, Herman's boss at the funeral parlour where he works.

The extras in this Boxset include biographies of Fred Gwynne, Al Lewis, and Yvonne De Carlo. The picture and sound quality is good.

If you feel like losing yourself in some good old-fashioned, cheerful humour, grab yourself a copy of this.

I remember watching this T.V. series as a young boy during the 1960's. I loved it then and I still love it now. a timeless American T.V. classic. join the Munster family in there daily life as people run away from them in fright!! only one member of the munster family is true human and that is Marilyn. who for some reason members of her family cannot work out why she is so different to them. there's Granpa with his experiments that always seem to go wrong. this is a great show. it is good all clean loving fun to watch. there's no smut, no swearing just good clean monster fun for all to share. it is sad to think that some of the actors who made this show what it was are sadly no longer with us they are:
Fred Gwynne Died 1993
Yvonne De Carlo Died 2007
Al Lewis Died 2006

However, we can treasure there golden moments in this box set. it is a must if, you like this kind of comedy that even today is great to watch and somehow has survived through time and is still well received to this day.

This is just the tops. I originally saw the Munsters when i was small child when it originally ran on British TV. I was in awe, these guys and gals were so spooky and gothic (based on universals horror icons at the time, Frankenstiens monster, Dracula, the werewolf). All shot in black and white and this only adds to its appeal, like the original universal films. So yes its a spoof taking the Munsters to be you average American family (not), they think they are tho! Lots and lots of adventures with then all getting up to mischief and lots of tight spots. I am watching these with my young daughter, we laugh out loud and are total fans.
There are some great extras on the last disc, a full documentary and individual documentaries on Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo and Al Lewis. These dvds are priceless and you get the complete works, get this while its still around totally recommended.

This is a must have if you used to watch this in your childhood. I absolutely love The Munsters, they are my favourite family. The reason why I love this product is because you own the whole collection, every episode in the series. The price is excellent too and worth it. It's fun for the whole family to watch. Even if your not familiar with The Munsters I will recommend this to you. The quality of the DVD is brilliant, the series is in black and white since it was filmed in the 60's just in case you see the cover and think that it is in colour. This is a rare collection a must have!!!

As a kid I always loved The Munsters and this pack offers you every single episode at a great price.

All these years later the great storylines still give loads to chuckle about in every episode. It's slapstick and has an endearing bias towards younger viewers. My 6 and 8 year olds love it, especially at Halloween time!

All the characters are fantastic but for my money, Lily is an intriguing and beguiling beauty!

The quality of the DVD is as good as you could expect from an old TV show. The picture quality is pretty clear and constant throughout with good clarity of sound.

This package offers you every episide from both seasons and it's great value for money (especially if you slam this into your wish list and monitor the price as they do vary from day to day).

This is classic TV at it's best. I could happily sit through three or four episodes at a time. Strongly recommended!

It is beautiful. I love it. The movies come in a georgeous box that makes itself a great decoration. It contains 12 movies, the last one is about how the series was made, it has interviews, a tribute to Fred Gwynne, and the biographies of Fred, Ivonne De Carlo and Al Lewis. A footage in color rarely seen of the pilot made in 1964 before the the series was first aired is also included.
All the chapters are remastered extraordinarily and the quality of the DVD's is outstanding, very clear, and excellent sound, even being in black and white, which is how the series was originally filmed.
I recommend this DVD's to any Munster's lover or simply if you want to laugh a lot with Herman and the Grandpa adventures.
A must for movie collectors.
