Germany released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ), German ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ), SPECIAL FEATURES: Black & White, Interactive Menu, Photo Gallery, Remastered, Scene Access, Trailer(s), SYNOPSIS: The mudlark is Andrew Ray, an illiterate London street urchin of the mid-19th century. Having seen a picture of Queen Victoria on a coin, Ray determines to meet the Great Lady, and to that end he sneaks into Windsor Castle. Victoria (Irene Dunne in a padded costume) has sequestered herself in the castle since the death of her beloved Prince Albert, and has refused to make any public appearances, much to the consternation of Prime Minister Disraeli (Alec Guinness). When the boy breaks into the Queen's sanctorum, her courtiers are convinced he's part of an assassination plot. But Victoria is regenerated by the boy's natural good humor, and for the first time in a long time she emerges from mourning to see her loyal subjects again. Filmed in England, The Mudlark not so much an historical drama as it is an acting lesson from such masters as Irene Dunne, Alec Guinness, and Finlay Currie (as a kilted Scotsman). 5.0 out of 5 stars 'The Mudlark' - then and now 18 Aug 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Ordering an English from a cover printed in German was a little disconcerting. However, the movie on the DVD was priceless. I originally saw the movie about fifty years ago, and the new DVD just brought it all back to life. Why aren't movies made like this any more? Delivery was ahead of time, goods were in perfect condition. Thank you!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb little film 15 Nov 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The MUDLARK is a superb little film, directed by the underrated Jean Negulesco, and featuring excellent portrayals by Sir Alex Guinness, Irene Dunne, and Andrew Ray. This print is fine, clear and crisp. I can highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys English history-themed presentations and fine filmmaking.
