Product Description

Product Description

Highlights of the spoof chat show series hosted by the cheeky old woman Mrs Merton (Caroline Aherne). She ritually humiliates her guests with barbed comments and digs, but she retains her charm as a little old lady. Some of the guests featured here include Mr Motivator, Dale Winton, Debbie McGee (Mrs Paul Daniels), Kriss Akabusi, Steve Coogan and Russell Grant. The video contains a specially recorded introduction by Mrs Merton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hilarious! 8 Aug 2000
I've always loved caustic humour and it doesn't come any more caustic than this! If you love to see people being insulted(subtly mind you!) then this is the video for you. (By the way, the best of series 2 is superior in my opinion, but this is still great stuff)

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Northern British Humour 2 April 2000
By A Customer
Caroline Ahern must surely be one of the most intelligent, funny and gutsy comedians of the 90s. Although her comedy is unique, it is derived from everyday life in the North West area of the UK. It is perhaps for this reason that some of her caustic comments tend to be lost on some people outside of that geographical area. Nevertheless, I have played this video to non-Brits and most have found it to be as hilarious as I do. Hers is truly ingenious comedy!

1.0 out of 5 stars I don't get it 11 Mar 2000
I loved Caroline Aherne in the Fast Show, and she was nice in the Royle Family too. But I don't get the appeal of this faux chat show. Maybe it's because I'm a yank. Maybe the show is aimed more at pensioners, after all, most of the studio audience shown are at least middle aged. I'm middle aged myself, but the humor seemed too thin, too weak, too self concious. I watched it once, and will probably never watch it again.
