Book Description

5 Dec 2011

The Mother of Invention tells the life story of futurist and seer Barbara Marx Hubbard and in so doing explains the future of every human being on earth. Neale Donald Walsch's unique style and power of communication make clear the importance of this visionary thinker. In what may very well be a new-form literary style, this biography begins in the future, unraveling Barbara's story backward, from December 22, 2012, to the date of her birth, and offering at the end of each chapter a special section inviting every reader to explore how they may directly apply to their own daily life what Barbara has observed and learned during her remarkable 80-year journey.

It is a journey that saw her become the first woman ever to have her name placed in nomination for the vice presidency of the United States by a major political party, that took her to Russia as a culture ambassador for peace, that had her visiting the Oval Office and asking a President of the United States a question that he could not answer, that placed her in deep acquaintanceship with the American space program, and that finds her today at the leading edge of contemporary thought and innovative action regarding our construction of the future.

Neale Donald Walsch's biography places Barbara Marx Hubbard's life and work in its rightful place at the centre of human consciousness raising.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very inspiring! 14 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
I have read lots of Neale Donald Walsh's books, and I love Barbara Marx Hubbard, so I was thrilled when I saw this was just published. It is written in a deliberately unusual style so that the reader doesn't get hooked up on it being "just another biography" but rather involving the reader in the book by reflecting on what are our own most important moments in our lives, which like Barbara Marx Hubbard only become apparent in hind sight. She is a visionary who is inspiring the world to see that crisis always precedes transformation, so what appears to be a break-down of society and the environment has the potential to be a break-through to a world of much greater co-operation. Her vision is incredible!!!! I would really recommend her 40minute DVD called Humanity Ascending.... you will never look at the world, and your part in it, in the same way again! :0)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mother of Invention 23 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
I found the style of writing the biography from the future, backwards to the beginning very effective. The book felt pertinent to me because of the sections on how to relate Barbara's life events to my own experiences. I made lots of notes as there were many interesting points that I want to remember. Spurred me on to look at BMH's website and get involved.

2.0 out of 5 stars Admire the writer but not this book 13 May 2011
By Jeff - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I own all of the books Mr Walsh has written and have read most of them twice. They have changed my life. This book really let me down. Could not get by the first few chapters.(sections) I jumped ahead and still could not get on board. It seemed to structurally mirror the experience of Mr Walsh with different players and an excess of descriptive fluff. I am still interested in this woman and her message but this writing is literary overkill. Maybe if you enjoy reading the "romance style" novels, you will like it. But for me, it was distracting. Neale, get back to your roots and I will keep reading. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our Furure on Earth 24 Feb 2011
By Pat S - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Combine Neale Donald Walsh and Barbara Marx Hubbard together and you are given a hope for our future here on planet "Earth". It is spirituality at it's most basic realization. The world will soon become 'more': to understand this you need to read more from both of these authors. 2012 is not the end, it is the "Beginning."
My hope is that we can all become brothers and sisters on this world, so we can realize this re-birth as it happens. Read and enjoy the possibilities.
