Book Description

Simon Drake is an up-and-coming young FBI hotshot, an agent with a personal track record so outstanding that it borders on unbelievable. Not yet thirty, he's already the leader of his own special ops team; a ragtag bunch of talented but nigh-uncontrollable lunatics, it's true, but under Simon's inspired leadership they're a force to be reckoned with, a team with an unparalleled success rate, a team with an almost unblemished record--until now.

Jeremy Archer is the brilliant and unpredictable scion of a long line of international art thieves, simultaneously a phenomenally wealthy English socialite and one of the most infamous criminals in the world. At twenty-seven years old he's already wanted on nearly every continent for thefts totalling more than ninety-one million dollars, and yet no one has ever come close to catching him--until now.

May the best man win.

4.0 out of 5 stars Typical and somewhat cliched, but quirky characters and a fun feel keep it intriguing and propel me on to book two 2 Mar. 2014

Well done overall, a bit in the typical vein of the feds-and-thiefs-working-together (with-sexual-interest-on-the-side) story, but unique enough and well written with quirky characters. It's a fun, quick, exciting read...somewhat cliched, yes, but I like this genre so it wasn't boring or TOO predictable. The cast of characters bordered on silly in behavior, but that gave the book another angle to work on, which it continues right along in book two. This book was short, but I am looking forward to more of these characters and the development of their story in the other three books. The next book alone is 445 pages, so it'll definitely give us that.

Simon and Jeremy were amusing in all their smirks and attraction (which I would have liked them to hold out and tease each other on for longer, but their coming together works in the moment). The way the characters interact and the descriptions of their actions put you in the scene pretty well, and I think it will only get better the further the story goes. I am very excited to read about the next encounters (Jeremy working with the team again), especially with how this book ends. There's not much else to say about this book. You can expect the suave thief, the typically gruff FBI team leader, the goof-offs of a FBI squad that are actually very capable when necessary, and noir style heists. This first book just gives a peek into what we can expect, and I think it is well worth reading and continuing on. So if you're in the mood for this type of story, read and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Series 31 Mar. 2014

This is a fantastic series of novels that I have read a number of times. The characters are well rounded and developed, and become so dear to you as you work your way through each book. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who has a weekend to dedicate to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and quirky--foundation for the series--really enjoyed it 7 April 2014

I did read these in order and really enjoyed them. Archer and Simon are very cool and a little quirky. Funny characters who interact with each other not just the heroes. Fun plot with just enough suspense to keep me guessing and two heroes I wanted to read more on. And a cute nerd--Nate--who just needs someone to need him, too. Love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read! 5 April 2014

Definitely loved it. Super fun read. The story moves quickly and only covers a very short time frame. All the characters are a bit on the snarky side. I don't think anyone of them was average. It works! Don't take the gadgets and gizmos seriously, though. Very James Bond-ish. ;-)
3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but boring to me. 15 July 2014

I really couldn't finish reading it--too much drama, too many characters and plots, etc. It just wasn't something very interesting to me.
