I found Mr Montignac's book after visiting a qualified nutritionist and being told what I suspected...and now know to be a load of old rubbish.
In fact, had I followed her professional advice my weight gain would have been worsened.
The ideas behind Monignac's food programme are quite clearly laid out.
It is simple to understand, based on eating more whole-food, fruit and vegetables...without going crazy or obsessive-just ensuring that not everything you eat is white-bread and sugar based.
His method is based on the well-recognised medical fact that we eat to much refined, processed food which overstimulates our production of the hormone insulin (which deals with blood sugar in our body).
Some people react very poorly to this and the end result is 'inexplicable' weight gain.
This book is aimed at women because as many of us are aware we put on weight in different ways in different parts of the body compared to men.
We also have hormonal changes which can effect our weight gain and eating patterns.
With a little pre-planning and careful shopping it is easy to start and maintain his food programme for the long term.
I lost the weight exactly as he had predicted-a steady 2lbs a week.
I lost 21 llbs in 3 months.
My weight varies a little now and then but I have followed his simple gidelines sucessfully for the past 2 years-feeling more energetic than ever before.
I have now gone on to study nutrition and diet.
No recipes-but its based on such a simple idea that should be no obstacle. If it is-then pick up the 'Montignac Provencale Cookbook'
Or pick up, Montignac's ' Eat Yourself Slim - and Stay Slim!' which suits all genders with a few recipes in the back.
The book is translated from the French and this is obvious in some of the turns of phrase and few instances of peculiar French foods but this is quite endearing.
The important thing is; in any language... it works.
