More About the Author

Hello, I'm Steve Smallman. I'm an author and illustrator of children's books, a muralist, a poet(sort of)and a bit of a show off!I started working as an illustrator while I was still at art college then after about 20 years decided to have a go at writing stories of my own. I've written over 40 books so far (more in production!) and these days I'm better known as an author than as an illustrator.I'm married to Ann (Who is wonderful and has a proper job!)we have 4 children who are all grown-ups and 4 fabulous grandchildren!
I'm not very good at being a grown-up so I write books, illustrate, paint murals and visit schools all over the UK and abroad keeping so busy that no-on notices that I don't have a real job!

4.0 out of 5 stars Monkey with Bright Blue Bottom 28 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
Our 2 your old son has taken a shine to this book almost immediately. He loves both monkeys and clowns. This book provides both. He often selects it as his night time read. As for parental needs; a great book, as it can be read as fast or as slow as time will permit that evening.

This story is a keeper! Our daughter loved the story about how animals got their color. She wanted to bring the book to bed every night for the first week we owned it, so that's a big thumbs up from her! The illustrations and storyline are very strong and we look forward to reading this book at storytime.
