4.0 out of 5 stars A requirement of Life 17 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Bettye Swann is Soul, this album is a requirement of life, her voice is pure silk. If are in love or unfortunate to have lost that special number one in your life then this album is therapy for both conditions. Even though its from a womans perspective if you recognise the words and emotions then gender isn't relevant. When you hear this album, then you can see that what people class as soul divas today or even talent is a total insult to real talent such as Bettye. Look out for the crediable cover of Sam Cooke's Change is gonna come and my favourite track the acoustic treat " Don't look Back " if I am wrong to say this then buy it and proof me wrong!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous album. 5 Sep 2005
Format:Audio CD
I recently purchased this album for the song "make me yours" as I was getting obsessed with it! Since this album has arrived, it's the only music I have played-it's that good!!! I also take it in the car when I go out!
If you love your soul/northern then get this gorgeous album, you will not be disapointed. It is way above average!!!!
Bettye rules!

3.0 out of 5 stars Value for Money recordings? 8 April 2003
By Cies
Format:Audio CD
This is a re-issue of Swann's "Make me yours" album together with seveal non-album singles and previously unreleased alternate tracks.
Bettye Swann recorded this album in 1967 for the LA based label Money. Swann is not one of the really famaous Ladies of Soul. She is also not the unknown heroin of Soul singing. Swann is an above average Soul singer with some good compositions. Only one of her singles, "Make me yours", became number 1 in the R&B charts. Other singles reached mid-table of the R&B charts, if they reached the charts at all. This does not mean that her other tracks are not as good as "Make me yours", but they do not stand out in the overall Soul production of the late sixties.
Conclusion: This is an average Soul record, therefor an average rating.
