I didn't discover The Chords until a couple of years ago when I bought their Anthology 'This is what they want' and from that point I was hooked !
The sound, lyrics and drive this band delivers is pure 'Jam' - You really will not regret getting this and their other releases if you like all things Jam and Mod. I would also add the 'The Rifles' to the list of modern day Jam'esque bands to invest in (their 'No Love Lost' LP is an absolute classic) along with the first 'Ordinary Boys' Album 'Over the Counter Culture'. These three LPs are 'must buy' mod albums for any Jam Fan harking to the days when Weller, Foxton and Buckler were at their angry and energetic best - Get The Chords, The Rifles and The Ordinary Boys albums - you won't regret it......

5.0 out of 5 stars The Chords 8 April 2011
Does exactly wot it sez on the tin. Late 70's-early 80's Mod style, but with a cutting edge of New Wave. Excellent compilation, sadly under-rated band

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Some Long-Overdue Respect 2 Jan 2011
By Timothy K. Schwader - Published on Amazon.com
The Chords were the kings of mod from 1979-1981, releasing dozens of singles and racking up a sizeable following across the UK and beyond. Sadly, the band has been largely forgotten since then, making the appearance of this 20-track collection something akin to manna from heaven. Tracks like `Now It's Gone' and `Something's Missing' are every bit as essential as anything The Who ever recorded, both in terms of urgency and appeal, and they deserve to be heard, remembered, cherished. I've never heard another mod band as consistently engaging as The Chords. In fact, I'm left wishing that the band had stayed together long enough for this to have been a double-disc collection.
3.0 out of 5 stars So Far Away CD is a better bet 2 Oct 2013
By Brian Maitland - Published on Amazon.com
The album itself is excellent (worth five stars for the tunes but hear me out why I'd say this is more an average three-star release). Anyway, why spend the $ on just the A and B sides of the Chords' singles. Get the excellent So Far Away CD which features their fantastic So Far Away album in its entirety + the singles as well (with B-sides, too) and a bunch of live tracks.

Anyway, either/or you're getting plenty of killer '80s mod revival tunes.
