...compared to their other mix CDs this is a poorer cousin. Some of the mixing is of very poor quality (both ill-thought out and poorly executed) and the track listings don't work. This is a CD which would have worked much better with unmixed tracks - none of the CDs develop any sort of flow. This is hardly surprising from what is essentially a 'Greatest Hits' album. Furthermore, in their attempt to cram more tracks onto the CDs, they have cut back some of the songs significantly, to their detriment. For example, To Be In Love runs for only two minutes and twenty seconds - and it feels like it's been squeezed between other tracks just to get it in there.
If you've never bought a Hed Kandi CD then this would be an OK place to start. Personally, I'd try one of the earlier mix CDs, especially the Summer 2004 set.
This Compilation celebrates Hed Kandi, one of the best Dance Labels around.
It's original, enjoyable and great for before you go out.
I can't see the problem with that, pointless comments like the mention that this isn't as Hed Kandi intended is off the mark.
It is a compilation of existing HK music, not a new CD.
Worth buying. At the end of the day, the worst that can happen is you lose a tenner.
I miss it so much!!!!!
While the content is not bad, this album falls into the genre of popular dance mixes containing very little from lots of tracks. It does indeed give a taste of what the HedKandi catalogue has to offer, but is a diversion for their usual policy of giving unmixed full 12" versions or mixes that contain 12-13 tracks with most of each track present. This album is also shorter on playing time (roughly 70 minutes a disk) compared to the HedKandy norm of the max you can cram onto a CD.
I have been a HedKandi fan for some time and possess 12" cuts of nearly everything on this album on other HedKandi releases or albums by the original artists.
Having said that, its OK as a travel companion.
Its a shame that HedKandi couldn't think of a better way to celebrate their 50th release. Don't be put off though, this label is one of the best around for quality dance music.
Another great addition to the Hed Kandi collection. Hed Kandi never fails to impress.
Its in excellent condition much better than I had expected.
Perfect track list, even my wife likes it.
