Product Description

The Missing Years is the sequel to Beckford-Brady’s first novel, Sweet Home, Jamaica which was published in two volumes in May 2007 by Pegasus Elliot Mackenzie.and subsequently re-published in a single volume edition by AuthorHouse.

It continues the saga of Michelle Freeman and her extended family.

Michelle was born in Jamaica but raised in Britain. When she was nearly fourteen she had discovered a controversy surrounding her birth and learned that the woman raising her was not her mother. The discovery had started her on a quest to find some answers. The initial reunion with her biological mother was not the tear-jerker she had expected so when the families came together for the five-yearly family reunion emotions were running high. Life for Michelle was already full, juggling a career as the co-owner of SmallRock Publications, plus family life, but things were about to be turned on their head. A bungled robbery, a dead youth and a usually devoted husband who has started staying out all night with no explanation… Is Michelle's husband getting too close to Delisia?
A poignant, heart-warming tale of family relationships and conflict resolution, spiced with fast-paced drama, The Missing Years is the sequel to Sweet Home, Jamaica and the story unfolds on the beautiful island of Jamaica.

Format:Paperback
If u have not read Sweet Home Jamaica vol 1 & 2 get them now,as u would have missed out on the foundation of this wonderful story written by Claudette.
Not only is it a gripping tale of Michelle's family life, it sends out a clear message of the importance of family to everyone no matter where ur from.Based mostly in Jamaica with references to the UK and USA.Claudette writes from the heart.
There is humour, sadness and happiness in this book and it will please anyone who is interested in a good read. For those who do not know alot about the tradition of Jamaica. This is a great insight into the many different types of foods, places and history of Jamaica. For those that already know it brings back happy memories.
I can't wait for Claudettes next creation.

This is interesting reading. The author knows her country. She gave reasons why she loves Jamaica, making others wanting to do the same despite their reservations about the difficulties one might face.

Was looking forward to this but was let down due to the continual repeating and explaining of what happened in the previous book. I already knew because I read the book!
