Recently, I've started a wierd new ritual. When I see a movie and really enjoy it, I click on to AMAZON to read other people's views of it. Why, I do not know. Probabaly I'm just really sad !!! What's amazed me about reading reviews of this movie is the way american and english reviewers feel about it. The yanks seem to feel it's sappy and not Babs at her best, while the Brits love it. And I have to agree with my homies !!! I saw this film today again having watched it previously a few years ago, and I could really see the beauty in it. I thought the acting was brilliant, with everybody truely surpporting eachohter and working really well together (special mentions to Lauren, Mimi and Pierece) Barbara was great in the leed role as Rose, and Jeff Bridges - HELLO !!! When did he get so cute !!! I feel that a lot of people think too much when they watch movies like this - rather like Jeff's character, they analise it too much and take it too seriously. People, sometimes you need to just relax, kick back and just let the movie take you to where it wants to go. In this case, it is a sentimental journey, but one that fills anyone of any age with the hope that yes, there is someone out there for you who can love you for who you are. You rewind the VCR on turn off the DVD feeling good about things, and in this crazy world we live in, that ain't such a bad thing in my view. And any film that ends with two people dancing in the street in their pyjamas at 6am in the morning with Pavaritti blaring out of a window gets two thoumbs up from me !!!
