An essential for sermon writers, my wife as a Lay Reader has this handbook by Naomi Starkey in regular use. Published by the Bible Reading Fellowship in 2000. The book is designed to work with the Common Worship Lectionary giving a commentary of about 200 words on a particular text.

This is a very good book to give some starting thoughts when speaking on the Lectionary readings. Especially useful for lay folk.
