Product Description

Has the "settle-for-less" financial plan become your plan for wealth? That plan sounds a little something like this:

"Graduate from college, get a good job, save 10% of your paycheck, buy a used car, cancel the movie channels, quit drinking expensive Starbucks mocha lattes, save and penny-pinch your life away, trust your life-savings to the stock market, and one day, when you are oh, say, 65 years old, you can retire rich."

Since you were old enough to hold a job, you've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by blindly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent FINANCIAL GAMBLE that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair.

Accept the Slowlane as your financial roadmap and your financial future will blow carelessly asunder on a sailboat of HOPE: HOPE you can get a job and keep it, HOPE the stock market doesn't tank, HOPE the economy rebounds, HOPE, HOPE, and HOPE. Do you really want HOPE to be the centerpiece of your family's financial plan?

Drive the Slowlane road and you will find your life deteriorate into a miserable exhibition about what you cannot do, versus what you can. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative; an expressway to extraordinary wealth capable of burning a trail to financial independence faster than any road out there. And shockingly, this road has nothing to do with jobs, 401(k), mutual funds, or a lifestyle of mediocrity.

Demand more. Change lanes and find your explosive wealth accelerator. Hit the Fastlane, crack the code to wealth, and find out how to live rich for a lifetime.

MJ Demarco is a business writer who sets himself apart. Firstly his concepts are tried and tested, secondly he shares as many of his 'failures' as he does his successes and thirdly he translates complex business and finance principles into simple, doable processes.

The book characterises 3 types of people: Sidewalkers, Slowlaners and Fastlaners. Each is well defined and accompanied by the 'illusions' we create to not perform. It's are all there in black and white, so it can be a bit squirmy when you've got to put your hand up and say 'yep, that's me ... I really do that and think that'.

I'd recommend this book to all entrepreneurs whatever stage of business you're at. It's full of truths, practical wisdom, pitfalls to avoid and fast-tracks which you might be just a step away from.

(Oh, and I ordered the paperback from Amazon.com because only the Kindle version was available in the UK - I knew I'd be underlining, scribbling and taking copious notes ... which I did). :)

I want to keep this review simple, no proper business book will give you a formula for creating wealth telling you to do this and this and you will be a millionaire.... any book that does you should avoid as its most likely clap-trap.
But what the millionaire fastlane does give you is a valuable life strategy.
Its well worth the very low price, i bought it a year ago now with a few more quid added on to the price its at now..... but honestly even if it was ten times the price, it would still be worth the money.

This book may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is for me. Skipping over the bits about what you what you shouldn't do is easy, and once you find the real fastlane ideas then you soon pick up on them for personal use. Alright, the author goes on about giving up what you are doing and starting a business and this may seem pretty basic, but it is the way it is delivered that makes it work.

If you are of an entrepreneurial mind set then this is the book for you, but if you are a tomorrow person then forget it. It does take a positive belief system to go along with the content, and well worth it. Getting from what is termed as the sidewalk to the fastlane is achieved through life lessons, and the author is very good at putting these across. Something important to remember when reading this is that if you are not prepared to apply effort in this arena of success achievement then go for something more basic, like an extra pillow!

Never start a business just to make money. Stop chasing money and start chasing needs. Let me repeat that, because its the most important thing in this book: Stop thinking about business in terms of your selfish desires, whether its money, dreams or do what you love. Instead, chase needs, problems, pain points, service deficiencies, and emotions. "e;

Thou shalt not invest in a needless business. Thou shalt not trade time for money. Thou shalt not operate on a limited scale. Thou shalt not relinquish control. Thou shalt not let a business startup be an event over process. "e;

Applied, this means instead of buying products on TV, sell products. Instead of digging for gold, sell shovels. Instead of taking a class, offer a class. Instead of borrowing money, lend it. Instead of taking a job, hire for jobs. Instead of taking a mortgage, hold a mortgage. Break free from consumption, switch sides, and reorient to the world as producer. "e;
