Book III:
Derek Adams is on the lam, framed for a strange murder and chased by a cult intent on getting their hands on the skin belt that writhes in Derek's pocket. When a firm of lawyers offers him a way out, he grabs it with both hands.

More About the Author

I'm Willie, Scottish but now in Canada, and I write pulpy adventure stories in the main, with big beasties, men with guns, occult detectives, lost worlds, things from beyond, slime, ghosts, more beasties and more slime. And beer. I have 20 novels and over 300 stories published in the likes of Dark Regions Press, DarkFuse and Chaosium with many more still to come. And did I mention beer?

I'm mostly over there at a writer's page. Mostly. » http://www.facebook.com/williammeikle

My current best seller is THE INVASION, a sci-fi alien invasion tale with mass carnage, plucky survivors, and last minute rescues. It has been as high as #2 in the Kindle > science fiction charts. (and #4 in Kindle > horror ).

5.0 out of 5 stars PI on the run! 25 Jun. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I do love a Derek Adams story - there ought to be more of them *cough, hint*. Full of clever clues and references, overlaid with smoke and whisky, smothered in the seedy, inner Glasgow of our author's memory, and draped in a darkly humorous noir overtone; this is yet another brilliant tale of what happens when our favourite PI says Yes to a job.

Before you know what's going on we have mysterious deaths, magical powers afoot and some violent beasties intent on revenge (and lunch). There's some excellent history by way of a Journal, and a hint of the legacy of the item Derek's taken ownership of. Needless to say, the troubles are very old, and Derek's return to the notes during the tale illuminates several clues - although our hero tends to be focusing on where his next breath (or cigarette) is coming from rather than whodunnit and why. Whodunnit is usually in hot pursuit anyway...

With the aid of his allies and contacts in the less official regions of society; Derek follows the trail to Canada, where yet more strangeness abounds and he finds himself trussed up in a shed with a bunch of confused Goths and a lot of howling (I won't ruin it with much more - this ought to pique your curiosity sufficiently).

Another great adventure!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Looks like we're back in the Twilight Zone, Derek." 27 Feb. 2014

"Looks like we're back in the Twilight Zone, Derek."

This is the third book in Meikle's Midnight Eyes hard-boiled / noir pulp series starring detective Derek Adams.

Adams finds himself in a chase across Scotland and Canada with a coveted artifact in his pocket and a pack or two of werewolves on his trail.

"Just another quiet day at the office."

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Read 12 Mar. 2011
By L. J. Wright - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoy reading books by this author because he has a totally different way of looking at things.
This was a great read, kept me engaged all the way to the end. I have read almost all of his ebooks
and enjoy his stories which keep the reader wondering. The twists are hard to guess ahead of time
which is great because you don't know what is going to happen.
