I bought this for my six year old and it made storytime fodder for hours and hours. It had little flaps that let you see inside the castles and villages and it seemed very detailed and authoritive to me. The bits about where the monks went to the toilet and how the Lords of the castle ate roasted swan and stuffed squirrel met with particular enthusiasm. The book is well set out and the pictures are crammed with beautiful detail so children can spend hours pouring over them.
I was happy too because it felt like she was learning something a bit deeper than Hello Kitty for a change.
