Book Description

1 Oct 2003
The Message is a Quran translation that undertakes a unique approach from previous English translations. Two critical differences from previous English translations that will be appreciated by students of the Scripture are:

  • There are no footnotes or addition of words between brackets to interfere with the Quranic text or message.
  • The translation is based on a “God Alone” approach. In other words, no sources (besides an Arabic word dictionary and common sense) are used to determine the meaning of the text or the translation.

The purpose of this simplified translation is to assist those seeking to understand the best world order and constitution as designed by our Creator for mankind.

The Message is the culmination of years of group study and research into the Quranic text with the goal of bringing objectivity and honesty to the English language reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Clear Translation 9 May 2007
This is the finest translation I have had the pleasure of reading in all my time of being a Muslim.

It is written in clear and accessible language, free from any kind of subjective footnotes and free from sectarian or gender bias.

If there is any justice in the world this will become a best seller!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a translation worthy of the original! 22 Oct 2003
The Message is unique in that it is one of the few translations of the Quran that does not have footnotes or brackets to interfere with the text. The Message's straightforward translation of this 1,400 year old manuscript is a must read for those who wish to learn of what was sent down from the heavens and in which is the future or destruction of mankind.

The usual prerequisites for translators of the Quran included knowledge of classical pre-islamic arabic poetry, this was the arabic used at the time the Quran was revealed over 1400 years ago.
The translator here uses an arabic dictionary, okay stop you can stop laughing now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the Translation 16 Sep 2005
By Robert - Published on Amazon.com
This is one of the better translations of the Quran that I have read. The language is simple and the words are clear and concise. I commend the group behind this work for bringing the words of God to people at a time when Islam and Muslims are taking lot's of unfair criticism and heat.

4.0 out of 5 stars a potentially important book in the realm of Islam 3 Mar 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
From beginning to end, the language is clear and concise, the English perfect and easily understandable. This is a fine piece of writing, and the book stands on its own, ready to enlighten any English reader in a whole new way, and for that, the authors are to be congratulated.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Message: By ProgressiveMuslims.Org 2 April 2004
By Moby Chaudry - Published on Amazon.com
The authors of "The Message: A Modern Literal Translation of the Koran" have adopted a wonderful and novel approach to introduce the Final Testament to mankind. If you could never read the available translations of the Koran beyond a few pages beause they made no sense and they were dull and boring readings ... what a delightful READING this is.
This book has fulfilled the need of our times for Moslems and non-Moslems alike. The authors translate with confidence, honesty, boldness and clarity. Their grasp of the subject is awesome.
It is difficult to put down this HOLY SCRIPTURE and it is difficult to disagree with this "modern literal translation" because it is so convincing. The entire humanity is very blessed to have authors of such merit extending their knowledge of Arabic language to serve Islam and its holy scripture: Koran. The authors' masterpiece is an ever-lasting Beacon of Light for all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Translation Without Bias 23 Oct 2003
By zenje - Published on Amazon.com
This is the one I've been waiting for. It's been a long time coming, but definitely worth the wait! The first english translation that's easy to read and understand, but most importantly without one particular author's bias. No interference of brackets and commentaries!... what a relief! I've read this translation several times, and can't get enough of it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good translation minus some helpful things. 9 July 2004
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
I am lucky enough to have both the first print of this wonderful book as well as the second. while the second printing offers some interesting and helpful additions it would still be nice to see a side by side arabic writing of the quran as well as amaybe a transliteration. other than that i like the fact that the book was written with little use of outside sources. no hadith etc.
(...) Debates concerning some of the translation choices and ideas expressed in the translation continue on openmindedly in a mature fashion.
read the book, visit the site and you wont regret either.
