Book Description

26 Feb 2004
On 24 November 1991 people all over the world mourned the untimely death of Freddie Mercury, lead singer of rock band Queen. But for the author, Mary Howis, her life would never be the same, as, from that day forward, she was aware of a strange presence around her; someone from the spirit world the spirit that once was Freddie Mercury, known in the spirit world as the Mercury Man . Mary had been chosen for a special mission to be an instrument for the spirit world, for Freddie, through which they could communicate. But why her? Why someone who, until the news reports of Freddie Mercury s death, had never even heard of him? Mary tells the story of her spiritual journey of discovery from disbelief, self-doubt and denial to an absolute conviction that what she was experiencing was real, the messages she was receiving were true, and they were proof that life continues after death; that Freddie was still alive, in spirit form, and had much knowledge to impart to the world. Despite the ridicule she might face, Mary knew that she was destined to write this book, to tell her story Freddie s story to the world, in the hope that it would bring comfort and hope to those who are suffering in their earthly bodies, who are grieving for loved ones, who are fearful of death. The message is clear: death is not the end, it is a new and exciting beginning.

Review

brave and moving account of communication with the Spirit World. A truly interesting book for anyone interested in life after death and that we do in fact still live on although in another dimension. An inspiring but practical and down to earth story told by a practical lady in her own words. She delivers the account in a very readable format that everyone can understand. --Gail Ross

With Mary Howis' fascinating account, 'The Mercury Man' not confirms a life after death, but gives comfort to those who have faced a loss. I found the book to be pure gold. Anyone questioning life after death must read it. --Stewart Roper

This, to me, is a wonderful story confirming Universal Truths, which I have held for as long as I can remember. What to me is Truth, many would find controversial, but I hold these things very dear. I can understand the struggle that Mary must have had - being a sceptic of Spiritual matters and gradually coming to Trust and Believe the vast volume of Evidence that was being placed before her, of Freddie Mercury working alongside her, in the Spirit. It must have been very confusing, but she must have gained so much Wisdom in the process of struggling with her own doubts as to the process and fear of rejection by society as a whole. This book is a work of great Courage in the face of adversity, in people's inability to look deeper than the apparent normality of our day-to-day existence. Life is actually illusion of the highest magnitude. It is Mary's story of how Freddie came to work through and with her, even though he was a stranger to her in the beginning. I am not personally inclined towards poetry without music as a norm, but the verses channelled are very moving. I pray this book helps the Truth of the Spirit's Eternal Life ring from the rooftops to all who are willing to listen and learn. It is a great time in humankind's evolution. I can recommend that this book will touch the hearts of those that it is here to stimulate into action, to help in the Healing Process of Planet Earth at this time. There is so much more than the human eye can perceive, just waiting for us to embrace it within our Understanding and our hearts. I am honoured to have been invited to play a tiny part in this process in writing this review and hopefully have passed on some of my great enthusiasm for this lovely piece of work. It helps to relay the fact that Eternal Life is the norm - Spirit lives forever. Well done for writing this, Mary. --www.activehealing.co.uk

4.0 out of 5 stars Not only for Freddie Mercury fans 17 Oct 2013

A very good book if you're interested in afterlife communication, celebrities after death or Freddie Mercury the rockstar. It helps if you have a belief and interest in psychics, mediums and spirit messages, but it's also good if you are just curious and fancy dipping your toe in the water so to speak. Worth a read.

Believe or not, this book suggest to each of us a new scenario about life and death. I bought this book because I love everything concerning the music and the voice of Freddie Mercury, but I found an amazing and warm-at-heart sage. Hope that this brave woman (Mari Howis) will be able to write a second one. To be bought!

4.0 out of 5 stars Freddie Mercury in My Life: The Mercury Man 16 April 2006
Format:Paperback
I must say I did purchase this book in two minds. I am a believer of the spirit world and I do go to spiritual meetings weekly. When I first read this book I found it very uplifting, and I felt a great respect to this lady Mary. It must of took her a lot of courage to be able to write this book knowing that she could be faced with a awful amount of ridicule. Being a very big Queen fan and reading this book has also made me realise that maybe she is communicating with Freddie Mercury and perhaps not making it up just for publicity or money, the book isn't just about Freddie Mercury, it also includes experiences in her everyday life and family life and day to day struggles. I have sat and read the book many times maybe 3 or 4 now. And everytime I find out a little bit more about the spirit world and that there is something after our earthly life, who knows? But i very much enjoyed the book. If you are a sceptic and you are thinking of Purchasing the book - Do it! You might just surprise yourself and believe! I also agree with the other review on here. She does state that she would like to hear from anybody else who has had simular experiences concering Freddie Mercury and the spirit World. But there isn't any contact information. So maybe anyone could shead any light on this. Thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars A very touching book, one that gives hope 18 Jan 2006
Format:Paperback
I wonder why I am the first to write a review on this book. Are people afraid to admitt that there might be a spiritual world? I have to confess I am not totally sure of it myself. I guess I have a very crytical mind that prevents me to have connections to the spirit world myself. The book gives hope to those who really want to believe, it answers a lot of questions, but others still remain unanswered. At one point Mary states that she would like to hear from other people about this Freddie Mercury experience, but how can we contact her? I was hoping there would be any contact information in this book, but there was none. So, if you read this, Mary give us a chance to get through to you. Keep up the good work.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Waste of Money 3 May 2007
By Shari K. Alvarez - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The author supposedly went to hundreds of psychics all of whom could see the spirit of Freddie Mercury by her but no one would verify her story.

She has Freddie passing on messages always in poetic form, very questionable as to why she did this, I think she is a frustrated poet who could not get anything published so she came up with this story of using Freddie's name and got a publisher. Many of her so-called messages that she received she says are too personal to print, so why bother writing a book??? She also has Freddie doing things that anyone who has studied spiritualism, life after death, wicca, the bible or any number of things, goes against all teachings. He interferes with a persons free will! The book is total garbage. Not one redeemable quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars pure rubbish 27 Feb 2009
By Kathryn E. Banks - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Having read the two reviews, I thought that this would be a waste of time and money, but considering it didn't cost much, I thought, what the hell. OMG-I wish I had never spent my money on this! It is THE worst book I have read, and I have read a lot of books. She doesn't even know how to use proper grammer. She cannot articulate her thoughts whatsoever, nor can she put her thoughts into a proper sequence. If she had communication from Freddie, she would have written the messages he sent her, instead of saying that they were too personal to share. I can't believe any publisher would have printed this rubbish. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! I gave this book one star, but only because I was required to.

1.0 out of 5 stars You Don't Fool Me 16 Oct 2007
By Sharon A. Mayhak - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I read the existing review for this book and realized it wouldn't be a good read. Having had similar experiences with Freddie I wanted to compare notes. Our experiences began in the same way. I was never a huge Queen fan, but I did know who they were. I can't believe Ms. Howis never heard of them, and never heard any of their music. Was she living under a rock? I am very spiritually enlightened and I know there is life after life. I understand that concept fully. She uses page after page of poetry that I feel sure the educated, eloquent and articulate Mr. Mercury could not have written in such a "dummied down" manner. The poetry is just horrible. She said he's known now as "The Mercury Man". Give me a break! She said Freddie told her he's always with her. He's not. There are many who have received messages from him since he crossed over. He's not glued to her hip as she would like you to believe. What I find most offensive is that she is using him to promote herself and she obviously expects to profit from it. If you already believe there is life after life you don't need this book. If you don't believe it...this book won't convince you! If you're a Freddie Mercury fan...trust me...this has little to do with him. It's a total waste of time and and money. Really...she isn't fooling anyone! This book deserves NO stars!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Book Ever 23 July 2009
By Natmo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
What a piece of garbage. From the title to the contents within, this book made me want to claw my skin off. The poems? Ack! Had Freddie written songs like these and put them on an album, he would have been truly unforgettable.

Just a thought, but Fred probably has better things to do than hang out with this nitwit. She kept throwing out a disclaimer about her story being hard to believe, she had to know she sounded completed delusional.

She also needed a better editor to string together her poor grammar and run-on sentences.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Book! 20 Oct 2011
By serious - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Please don't buy this book. This book was written by a woman who never knew or even met Freddie Mercury and who has nothing legitimate to say about him. She is involved in the occult and divination and believes she and his spirit have been communicating. This is not a book written by Freddie's early girlfriend, Mary Austin. Don't get confused like I did and waste your money!
