This book is great for its content but for me it dosnt get five stars as sometimes you wont to be able to get straight to a point or at least a summary of the events without having to spy out words through the lengthy pages. For me I was particularly interested in the weapons of the Medieval period, it had lots of information but it took lots of patience and time to find what I wanted. I would imagine this book would be probally of the best for those who want a solid detailed review about Medieval warfare, those who wish for only points could still use this book but beware that you will need time and effort to read through the lengthy material Avaliable. Also, the diagrams and pictures are a good additional to a great historical book.

Although the product information seems to show a book with lots of pictures and little text, this is not the case. there are 259 pages and most of that is text divided into 10 chapters. The book is well illustrated although not all are large. However the maps and diagrams are clear. An excellent addition to the bookshelf of anyone interested in the Medieval Period or in warfare throughout the ages. Recommended.

Excellent Introduction Especially For The Early Medieval Period 10 April 2013
By Will - Published on Amazon.com

This book and it's companion on ancient warfare are excellent introductions to the topics of ancient and medieval warfare.
The medieval volume is especially good in covering the Early Medieval period warfare outside of Europe, particularly the Mongols.
