If you read the Flinx series you will want to read this one at the end. As with almost all of Foster's writing, it is entertaining, quite humorous and the plot is gripping enough to hold your attention. But I wouldn't say it's one of his best, and in some ways I found it rather unsatisfactory. The central "adventure" plot is rather similar to the second volume, the Tar-Aym Krang. It's quite loosely plotted with some key elements that don't really make a lot of sense. Most importantly, the loose ends in Flinx's search for his parentage are never really tied up.

Always enjoy Alan Dean Fosters writing. Had this in Paperback over the years in different versions i.e. US Ballantyne etc.. Bought this as wanted to have digital versions that do not deteriorate and take up space. Pleased with this because it is one of the rare Kindle 'old' releases that includes cover art. The text layout is also as per the book which makes for enjoyable reading. I am not going to tell the story of the book, other than to say if you enjoy Fosters novels about Flinx, his mini drag Pip and the Commonwealth then you thoroughly enjoy this.

Started reading the pip and flinx series years ago and decided I wanted to see what happens. Would definitely recommend it for teens/younger readers.
