Product Description

The Matarese Circle are the Corsican Brotherhood. Terrifying killers, their power could plunge the world into chaos and destruction within two years. Only two rival spies - and one mysterious woman - can stop them. Brandon Scofield, CIA, and the West's most professional assassin, and Vasili Taleniekov, former KGB, now wanted by the Politburo. They share a genius for espionage - and a life of terror and explosive violence. Sworn enemies, Scofield and Taleniekov have vowed to terminate each other, but now they must become allies. The band of carollers huddled at the corner, stamping their feet and swinging their arms, their young voices penetrating the cold night air between the harsh sounds of automobile horns and police whistles and the metallic strains of Christmas music blaring from speakers above garishly lighted store fronts. Read the first page

Quality Ludlum 16 Jan 2006

Format:Paperback
Having seen The Bourne Identity film and learning it was adapted from a book I was interested in reading it. It was read within a matter of days followed by Supremacy and Ultimatum. Now hooked on Ludlum's work I bought more.
The Matarese Circle is a brilliant read. Fast-paced, exciting and the real crux of the book is the unlikely partnership of it's two lead roles - Scofield and Taleniekov. Ludlum's description of the action is always good and it doesn't disappoint in this book.
If you like Ludlum this book is a must. Also, The Janson Directive is highly recommended too.
Someone should make more of Ludlum's books into films.

Robert Ludlum... you either hate his books, or you like them, and this book I love!!!

After Jason Bourne, probably his two best two characters!

In recent years a few of his films have been made in to movies, and this one should really be next!

After the "Bourne Identity", it is probably Roberts best page-turner and a really gripping story!

Only down side is Roberst lack of being able to write a man-woman relationship and not make it sound like a bad eppisode of "Hart to Hart", but if you look past the "Oh my Darling how much I love you" stuff, it is a REALLY great story and a great addition to anyones book shelf!

Schofield, the CIA's best European agent has been cut loose. His Soviet arch nemesis, Taleniekov hassuffered a similar fate. They have vowed to kill each other, but must now unite against a dark and sinister power that seeks to throw the world as they know it into chaos.

Ludlum spins a terrific Cold War yarn at the best of times, and this will not disappoint.
